Lewis Hamilton Gives an update on working with Ferrari while Mercedes continues to struggle
Lewis Hamilton joined Mercedes after leaving McLaren at the end of the 2012 season. The Briton and Mercedes have won 6 championships and 8 constructors championships. However, Hamilton announced a shocking move to Ferrari by the end of the 2024 season in February.
Hamilton always wanted to end his stint at Mercedes with a year filled with achievements. However, the team has failed to finish once on the podium since the season started. This could make it difficult for the seven-time world champion to work with Ferrari before the season starts.
The driver believes that talking about working with Ferrari would add distractions to an already struggling team. He said, “Right now, I want to finish on a high. All my energy is going into that.” He added, “Of course I’m looking forward to the future, but we’re currently in a difficult situation – and that’s my challenge. That’s where all my energy is going: to find out how we can get back to the top.”
The Briton considers himself a competitor who would give his everything to win with what he got. He added that talking about the next year is not going to help. The driver is trying to maximize the efficiency of the car by being willing to provide better insights and directions for the team.
He said, “How can I work with the boys? Can I give better debriefs? Can I give better direction?” I’m a competitive guy first and foremost, so I want to win. Thinking about next year doesn’t help me with that.”
It is only natural for someone like Lewis to stress out after not being able to perform well. However, the season has just started and Mercedes has ample time to climb the table.
