There is no doubt that Sergio Perez is not as comfortable as Max Verstappen in the RB19. Keeping this in mind, the media has asked if the car can have 2 different setups for each of the drivers.
“That is very difficult to implement.” Sergio Perez said. “Formula 1 cars have a very narrow window in which they operate. This makes it impossible to run two completely different setups with the same basic concept. Or changing the aerodynamic balance. There are moments when I feel like I’m finding my speed naturally, and then there are also moments when I have to adapt and not everything happens automatically”

Over the course of a race weekend, it is normal for teammates to try out different setups according to their racing style. However, these differences need to be minimal. Or else, it will go against the natural ability of the car. Adjusting the setups too much will make it harder to drive the car.
The drivers usually start with one base setup for each track. After that, based on the preference of the driver, they will make the changes while making sure that the car maintains its natural ability. This natural ability of the car has not been in Sergio Perez‘s favor. However, he has been slowly improving his results over the last few weeks.
Fans speculate that he will have a strong weekend in Singapore as it is a street circuit. Sergio Perez was commonly referred to as the King of the Streets.
Sergio Perez has 8 races to prove himself as a worthy rival of Max Verstappen
The Singapore Grand Prix presents Sergio Perez with his best chance to get his confidence back. Last year, Sergio Perez won the Singapore Grand Prix. Max Verstappen on the other hand has never won the race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
There is no doubt that Checo has proven to be strong in street circuits. So if Perez is able to win the Singapore Grand Prix, it could provide him the chance to regain his confidence and start matching the pace of Max Verstappen for the remaining 8 races this season. This could allow him to challenge for the 2024 Championship.

Perez is just a year away from his contract expiring. This will require him to perform well in Red Bull if he maintains to keep his seat. Or else he will have to look at other teams as an option. However, these other teams may not help him win a race. Red Bull are clearly the strongest team on the grid at the moment. So if Perez is able to get adjusted to the car, he will prove to be a competitor to Max Verstappen.
If Perez fails to do so, it is likely that he will be replaced by someone younger and faster. The team has been looking at drivers like Lando Norris as options. However, Norris’ contract is expected to last until the 2025 season. Let’s see if Sergio Perez is able to pick up the pace in the RB19 at the Singapore Grand Prix.
