Earlier this year, Felipe Massa decided to start a case against the FIA and FOM after Bernie Ecclestone confessed to knowing about the crashgate well before it happened. However, Massa is disappointed that his old team, Ferrari is not supporting him.
Although he was not a part of the team back then, the current Ferrari team principal, Fred Vasseur seemed to be very careful about what he said regarding the topic. However, he did say that he doesn’t like race results to change once it is completed.
During his most recent interview, Felipe Massa said: “I have hired a team of very strong lawyers. We will fight until the end to obtain justice in this sport. I do not understand why a case of manipulation cannot be verified in the correct way even if it is one, two, or 15 years later,”

When asked about the lack of support from Ferrari, Massa said: “I have not yet had the support of Ferrari, but I expect their help”
Ferrari has yet to comment on this topic so far. The only reaction we have had was from Fred Vasseur stated above. The team principal at the time was Stefano Domenicali who is now the CEO of Formula 1. So we can expect silence on the topic from him.
Should Ferrari support Felipe Massa in his lawsuit?
Ferrari has given no reason to believe that they will be supporting the cause. Although Massa didn’t win the WDC that year, Ferrari did win the WCC. This could mean that they are not very concerned about the WDC as they already won the WCC.
Right now, Ferrari has much bigger things to focus on. They are currently on a Championship slump. The last WCC they won was in 2008 while their last WDC was in 2007. Until then, the team had never gone a decade without winning a Championship. The team will be more focused on improving their performance to try and win a Championship.

With the 2008 Ferrari team principal being the current CEO of Formula 1, the lawyers would not allow him to make any kind of statement regarding the topic. He took over from Jean Todt who went on to become the President of the FIA. However, his term came to an end after the 2021 season. We can expect both of these former team principals for Ferrari to stay silent on this topic.
Instead of focusing on the lawsuit, Ferrari should focus on their performance. With their current performance, they will find it difficult to sign quality drivers on their team. They also need to win a Championship soon or they will face a lot of changes in the team.
