Kelly Piquet being the daughter of a champion and a known legend in the sport is aware of the many trials and tribulations. The model has watched her father star in the sport and soon after her brother following in similar footsteps. Growing up, Kelly had to get used to being the subject of the public eye considering her father’s fame. However, through it all, she has learned a thing or two about her beau, Max Verstappen‘s career. Being around the sport since she was young thanks to her champion father had its benefits.
Not only that, Kelly Piquet went on to date Daniil Kvyat, the ex-Red Bull driver. After having a daughter, Penelope Kvyat, with him, the two seemingly called it quits. However, she soon started dating the Red Bull star and two-time champion, Max Verstappen right after. Ever since her relationship with Verstappen, she has become the subject of the public eye along with her daughter for quite some time.
However, she understands the many things that can come with this sport. When talking to Vogue, Kelly Piquet said, “I was always very involved in my brother’s career. I’ve experienced the ups and downs, and seen what pressure does to someone. This world is so familiar to me, I know what those guys go through,”
Being around her father’s glory days to watching her brother try to walk in Nelson’s footsteps, she has become aware of the sport. Kelly has watched the sport and rooted for her father before his beau even came into the sport. Therefore, she is aware of the ups and downs that one can face.
Kelly Piquet likes Max Verstappen for being grounded amidst fame
When Kelly Piquet first met Max Verstappen, he was still trying to get the car to compete with Mercedes. However, in 2021, the Dutchman attained glory. His biggest breakthrough came from beating Lewis Hamilton. Kelly Piquet could be seen standing as she cheered him on as Verstappen won his first Championship title. The driver celebrated with Piquet and her daughter.
Soon Verstappen too, took over the role of a stepfather to Penelope. In his free time, the driver can be seen spending time with the kid. And the three can be seen being a family on Kelly’s Instagram. However, when Kelly was asked about her beau’s achievement in the sport, she said,
“He remains so humble, he has both feet firmly on the ground. What I really like is that he knows what he wants and he is not afraid to say it. He is confident and not interested in fame or material things. We have a lot in common, are bon vivants. I realize more and more how similar he is to my father.”
She only had good things to say about the Dutchman. Kelly praised her boyfriend for his incredible skills and passion. She went as far as to compare him with her champion of a father, speaking at length of his brilliance. Verstappen has broken Sebastian Vettel’s record of 9 consecutive wins at the Italian Grand Prix.
