SUMMARY
- Barely a day after Formula 1 rejected Andretti's bid, Lewis Hamilton dropped yet another huge bombshell on the fans.
- The seven-time world champion has reportedly signed a deal with Ferrari for 2025 and beyond.
Barely hours ago, Formula One churned out what is arguably the most sensational piece of news since Lewis Hamilton left McLaren for Mercedes AMG Petronas in 2013. And now, over a decade later, the seven-time world champion has yet again triggered shockwaves across the motorsport community, this time with an unexpected move to Ferrari, leaving his long-standing German racing outfit behind.
Indeed, nobody saw this coming, especially considering Hamilton recently extended his contract by two years until the end of 2025. Furthermore, the Briton has always been pretty transparent about his relationship with Mercedes, instilling his vision with that of the team. Hence, amidst the latest turn of events, the entire Formula 1 community, including McLaren F1 driver Oscar Piastri is shell-shocked.
The Australian driver tweeted a hilarious message on X, desperately trying to get a grip on the drama swirling around him. Piastri wrote, “Just been for a run. Have I missed anything?” Soon after, several pages, including that of Lando Norris and his official brand, LN, responded to Piastri’s tweet.
Just been for a run. Have I missed anything?

LN imitated Alpine’s statement from a couple of years back to mock Piastri. “I understand that, without my agreement, Oscar Piastri has put out a press release late this morning that I am running for him next year. This is wrong and I have not signed a contract with Oscar Piastri’s Running Club for 2025. I will not be running for Oscar next year.”

But, that wasn’t necessarily the highlight of this particular post, as Norris soon joined the banter with an amusing gif featuring himself.
Update on the escalating Lewis Hamilton-Mercedes fiasco
As of now, Formula 1 awaits an official announcement from either of the parties, but one can sense that it is near. Wolff has already called for a meeting with the team in Brackley which is currently underway. What follows is the official announcement from both Ferrari and Mercedes, and the deal should be sealed. However, the big question is, could this battle turn ugly for Hamilton and Mercedes?
The duo will not part ways until the end of this year, but, considering the way this entire drama has gone down, would Mercedes even prefer keeping Hamilton for this year? Several reports have already suggested that Mercedes might even decide against retaining the seven-time world champion for 2024.
Therefore, with still an awful lot of drama left in the bag, how do you think this is going to end for Hamilton, Ferrari, and Mercedes?
