While they both went through several lows over their three years as Red Bull teammates since 2021, Verstappen and Perez had progressively grown closer over time. It was clear that the pair were friends when off the racetrack as well. The two recently chatted about what their favorite Christmas film was on a Red Bull podcast.

When the Dutchman declared his most liked holiday movie was the classic Home Alone, Perez said, “I’m missing the translation.” Verstappen then asked, “Is it an English movie?” and to this, the Mexican said, “Yes, it’s an English movie.” Their talk displayed a shared fondness for the popular movie that has been essential since the 1990s which led to a variety of acclaimed sequels.

According to the 33-year-old driver, “The first time I saw him was in Melbourne and I already realized that he had something special. You could see that he was a very talented driver with great confidence in his possibilities. Today Max is calmer, he is still as confident, believing in his possibilities, but he has a calmer character.”
Perez feels he assisted the Dutch national in channeling his formerly fiery personality in a positive manner, which led to a highly driven efficiency free of flaws. With an eye on the 2024 season, the Mexican driver confirms that he will remain Verstappen’s teammate, easing concerns about his future.
