Ever since the start of 2023, Red Bull has not budged from the first position. Their constant winning streak has left all the other teams in a downward spiral. It was not long ago that the Chief designer of Red Bull also announced another nightmare for the team talking about further developments in the car. But even after his public announcement, it seems Horner has different plans.
The Red Bull team has won every race since the start of 2023 while their star driver has singlehandedly won 10 races. Furthermore, the energy drink company is now leading the Constructors Championship with 503 points. But it seems the plans on upgrading the RB19 this season have come to an end. The team has been on the podium every single race until the summer break.
Not only that, their RB19 car is faster than most of the cars on the grid. They have successfully left a huge gap between themselves and their competitors. In Max Verstappen’s last race, he won the race by being 15+ seconds ahead of Sergio Perez. Both their drivers take the first and second spots in the Driver’s Standings. With this speed, Red Bull has left other teams gasping to catch onto RB19 instead of winning the race.
Christian Horner sets his eyes on the 2024 season for Red Bull dominance
It seems the plans on upgrading the car further according to Craig Skinner have come to an end. It wasn’t long ago that the Chief Designer talked about how RB is never done when it comes to improving the car. But with the recent insights from Christian Horner, the team boss, it looks like the upgrades for 2023 have stopped.
Christian Horner talked about their plans for the season with Formula 1. He said, “I think that’s pretty much it.”
“There will be some circuit-specific bits and pieces, but we’ve got six months to come up with another one, and with a lot less wind tunnel time than our opponents. That’s where we’ve got to be really selective in how we use our resources.”
According to the team boss, the dominant team’s plans do not include any more upgrades. However, he did mention having a few additions here and there, the main focus is definitely the 2024 car for now. Horner also mentioned how this decision to focus on the 2024 car only came since they have less wind tunnel time than their rivals.
From the boss’ perspective, this reduced time on the wind tunnel is going to affect the team a big time. Red Bull received this reduced wind tunnel time as a penalty for exceeding their cost cap by a little. However, with the summer break in session, Red Bull has also set their eyes on the 2024 car as they hope to see another year of dominance.
