Lewis Hamilton and George Russell saw a disastrous end to their Japanese Grand Prix. Although the drivers both made it to the end, the tension between the two seemed to have only increased. Both Mercedes drivers were doing a great job holding back Carlos Sainz in Ferrari. After the Singapore Grand Prix, Ferrari has come close to beating Mercedes at the Constructor’s Championship. However, it all went down the drain for the duo.
Lewis Hamiton was driving behind George Russell. However, Russell had planned on playing Sainz’s trick against him with the DRS. But it would all go down the drain. Russell was asked to swap positions with Lewis Hamilton. Russell however, debated back asking the team to do it in the last lap but he was clearly asked to let Hamilton go. Soon Hamilton was off to chase Charles Leclerc. However, for Russell, the Brit watched Sainz overtake him by the last lap and lost a position.

This little moment left Russell oddly quiet for the end of the race. He also ignored his teammate after the race and walked past him. However, this did not sit right with the fans. Many complained about how Toto Wolff had completely given up on his team. The team principal was absent when it came to a statement and was targeted after the horrible strategies and treatment towards Hamilton in the last two races.
Fans attack Toto Wolff for unfair treatment of Lewis Hamilton
Leave it to fans when it comes to defending their drivers. And that is exactly what happened after the ugly turnout for Mercedes. Lewis Hamilton was left alone on the podium last weekend, and this week the strategies had Mercedes teammates fighting each other. This called fans to ask Toto Wolff to be a leader for once.
One of the fans commented, “Toto needs to wake tf up and be a leader for once. Time to lay down some ground rules this is absolute nonsense.”
