The Las Vegas GP is finally done and dusted. Since it is the inaugural race on the streets of Vegas, Christian Horner feels that there is still a lot F1 and the organizers can do to improve the event.
During an interview after the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Chrisitan Horner expressed his opinions on the event and how it can improve in the future.
“This has been a great event and, as with anything, there will be a bit of a debrief to review what went well and what needs tweaking,” Horner said. “When you see the interest in this race, it’s phenomenal. As a first event, there are of course a lot of lessons to be learned.”

“I think one of the things we’re looking at is the weekend schedule because it’s been brutal for the team and for all the men and women that work behind the scenes. I think everyone leaves Vegas one little destroyed. We need to think about how to improve things in the future.”
“We run very late at night, so maybe we could do it a little earlier in the evening. You can never satisfy all the viewers. It’s an American race, if you run it at 8 p.m., or something like that, it will be a little more comfortable for everyone.”
The 2nd free practice session for the Las Vegas GP was scheduled to take place at 00:00 local time. However, due to the loose drain covers on track, the session was delayed by 3 hours. The race itself only began at 22:00 on a Saturday night. These timings were given for the Las Vegas GP so it was comfortable for the viewers in Europe and Asia. However, this made it difficult for the drivers and staff on the circuit.
Christian Horner praises Sergio Perez for remarkable showing at the Las Vegas GP
After the Las Vegas GP, Christian Horner was more than happy with Sergio Perez‘s performance. Checo was able to secure his 2nd position after the Las Vegas GP. Lewis Hamilton will not be able to take 2nd place in the WDC even if he wins the race with Perez scoring no points. So Christian Horner cannot be any happier.
“Certainly, because as a team we’ve never achieved before. I mean, what more can you ask for from your drivers than first and second in the Drivers World Championship? His pace was right there again today. So, the last two or three races, he’s really been finding his form again.”
What a great comeback! We were close to winning, but we had too much downforce which reduced our top speed. Great job by Max and Charles. I’m very happy to have secured the runner-up spot after such a tough season.

Red Bull has never been able to achieve a 1-2 finish on the WDC. They came close last season, but Charles Leclerc managed to stay ahead of Perez to finish 2nd. This season, Perez was off to a good start as he was matching the pace of Max Verstappen. However, in the 2nd half of the season, he fell behind. This allowed Max Verstappen to take a dominating lead and win the Championship.
In the last few races, Sergio Perez seems to have found his form once again. He managed to finish P3 in Las Vegas after starting P10. During the Brazilian GP, he missed out on the podium by only 0.05 seconds to Fernando Alonso.
If all goes well for the Mexican driver, we could see him challenge Max Verstappen for the Championship next season. This would be a very interesting battle as the fans would enjoy some challenge and close racing for the lead of any race.
