A few hours before Qualifying for the British Grand Prix, Max Verstappen revealed a mysterious injury to his hand and finger. It apparently will not have any effect on his performance.
Max Verstappen has been incredible this season so far. He seems to be continuing this performance at the British Grand Prix as well. After revealing his hand injury before qualifying, he went on to take pole position. It seems as though there is nothing that can stop Max Verstappen’s current form. Not for a lack of trying though.
Crazy qualifying 🤯 Very happy to be on pole! A great day for us @redbullracing, looking forward to being back for more tomorrow 💪
Congratulations @McLarenF1, great to see you guys up there 👊#BritishGP pic.twitter.com/0hCODZmP4n

At the Canadian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen ran over a bird, and the remains were found in his brake duct. For more than half the race Max drove with a dead bird in his brake duct, and still comfortably won the race. Yesterday, he had a mysterious injury to his hand, and still, he took pole position by a comfortable margin. Through most of the races, Max Verstappen has won with a gap of over 20 seconds to the car in second place.
How did Max Verstappen injure his hand?
All that was told was that Max injured his hand. Even he is not clear as to how his hand got injured. Before the qualifying session, he said:
“It’s just a hand injury. I injured my finger and my hand at the same time, but it’s fine when I’m driving. At first, I couldn’t squeeze my hand quite right, but that’s okay again now. I don’t know exactly [how] – very weird.”
Max Verstappen has absolutely no idea how he injured his hand. But it seems to have been a serious injury at first. Luckily, the issue of him not being able to squeeze his hand has been resolved. If he was not able to squeeze his hand, he would have had a lot of trouble during qualifying.

In a Formula 1 car, there is no power steering. This would require the driver to hold the steering wheel a bit hard as compared to regular road cars. It will take a lot of effort from the drivers to make high-speed corners at over 150 mph. If Max Verstappen still had an issue with squeezing his hand, he probably would not have been able to take the pole position. Which would have meant Lando Norris taking his first pole position. But like Lando said: “Max ruins everything”.
As to how Max got injured, it is unlikely that the injury occurred while he was driving the Red Bull car. However, he could have banged his hand somewhere in the garage or in his room. With the injury not affecting him during qualifying, he mostly will not have any issues in the race either.
Let us see if Max Verstappen and Red Bull can extend their winning streak at the British Grand Prix. Or will the McLarens deny him of this?
