Ever since Michael Schumacher had the skiing accident, there have not been too many updates on his condition. However, Eddie Jordan did make a statement on February 2023 when Mick Schumacher reached out to him.
Eddie Jordan gave Michael Schumacher his first chance at a Formula 1 Grand Prix. Schumacher made his Formula 1 debut with the Jordan team during the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix. Before the Grand Prix, the team’s permanent driver, Bertrand Gachot was sentenced to 2 months in jail. He reportedly had an altercation in London.
Eddie Jordan gave a small update on Michael Schumacher’s condition in his blog for @OLBG when talking about Mick:

With Gachot not expected to take place in the Belgian Grand Prix, the team’s boss, Eddie Jordan chose Michael Schumacher to fill his shoes. During the qualifying session, the young German driver posted the 7th fastest lap of the session. His teammate at the time, Andrea de Cesaris who had been racing in Formula 1 since 1980, only managed to qualify in 11th place.
Unfortunately, Michael was forced to retire due to a clutch issue in the race. However, it was clear that there was a lot of talent and potential in the young German. From the next race onwards, Schumacher drove for Benetton Ford, with whom he won 2 Championships in 1994 and 1995.
Why Did Mick Schumacher Reach Out to Eddie Jordan?
Mick Schumacher has also made his way into Formula 1. He made his debut with the Haas team in 2021. He drove for them for 2 years, but unfortunately, he was not able to get a seat for the 2023 season. Mick now serves as a reserve driver for the Mercedes team alongside Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.
In 2022, Mick Schumacher reportedly reached out to Eddie Jordan.
“As far as I’m concerned, I was touched by it and the reason I was touched by it was because it can’t be easy knowing that your father is not able to be part of the family, he’s there but he’s not there,” said Jordan.
When Michael Schumacher had his skiing accident, Mick was only 14 years old. He was just starting his racing career. So he could not discuss his career with his father who was a 7-time Champion in the same sport.
“It touched me because I felt so much about Michael, I went out of my way to find him, and give him his first chance in Spa, didn’t last very long but that love for him still lasts and will always do so while I’m able to draw breaths,” said Eddie.
Eddie Jordan remained friends with Michael Schumacher even after he left the team. They have gone on vacations together and were close friends. So it does not come as a surprise that Mick Schumacher reached out to Eddie Jordan to talk about his father.
Mick Schumacher even drove his father’s Jordan 191 in 2022 around the Silverstone circuit. He even received some input and encouragement from his and his father’s friend, Sebastian Vettel.
