Although not a lot of information is known about the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Red, the small yet significant leaks from time to time make sure to keep the players intrigued about the game, thus adding to the curiosity and hype around the game.
Reports suggest that the anticipated game is currently in the development stage and has a tentative release date of Holiday 2024 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox series X|S, and PC. However, Ubisoft Quebec, the developer of the game has the tendency as well as a history of delaying a majority of its games in recent years.
Thus is recommended that for now the release date of Assassin’s Creed be taken with a grain of salt. However, from all the information that can be gathered so far Assassin’s Creed Red is fully playable and players can expect to get more official details on the game sometime early next year.
Assassin’s Creed Red Setting
One of the few things that have been confirmed about the game is its feudal Japanese setting. A previously released teaser for Project Red depicts typical feudal Japan buildings, against the background of an enormous bright sunset. A hooded figure then leaps up and onto a rooftop with a curved dagger in one hand and the series’ iconic hidden blade weapon in the other.
Breaking the tradition, Assassin’s Creed Red is rumored to have two playable characters – a male Samurai and a female Shinobi. The male Samurai is depicted to be an African refugee who realized the way of the creed. Reports and fans are of the opinion that this character could be based on the real life character of Yasuke.
Yasuke is known to be the first African samurai to ever serve in Japan in the late 1500s. As per co-author of African Samurai: The True Story of Yasuke, Thomas Lockley, Yasuke was a Legendary Black Warrior in Feudal Japan who “was employed as a muscle because missionaries aren’t allowed to have weapons”.
It is safe to assume that the latest Assassin will have a similar role to play in Red if the assumptions turn out to be true. The Samurai Assassin will be the brute and broan with heavy attacks.

Details about the female Shinobi being based on real life character are still unknown. However, it can be said that she will be a lot more agile compared to the Samurai. Similarly, both characters will possess completely different traits and weapons which will make them unique from one another.
Reports also suggest that major feature of Assassin’s Creed Red will be stealth taking some inspiration from the Splinter Cell series. his could include the players being able to use shadows to conceal themselves and extinguish torches to stay in the dark, which takes inspiration from the shooting lights feature in Splinter Cell. You can move the bodies of enemies to hidden areas by picking them up and relocating them.
Destructible environments are another feature that players can expect from Assassin’s Creed Red. This feature will allow players to break anything that they could possibly break in real life with the help of tools they possess. For example, screen doors can be slashed and broken open.
