Wojcicki initially worked in the marketing department at Intel Corporation in Santa Clara, California, which is also her birthplace. She also served as a management consultant at Bain & Company and R.B. Webber & Company.
In 1998, she became involved in the creation of Google, after she rented out her garage as an office to the company’s co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin. She was appointed as Google’s first marketing manager in 1999.
After carefully observing the success of YouTube, she was the one to suggest Google to buy it. The deal eventually fell in place, and Google acquired YouTube in 2006 for $1.65 billion. Later, Susan was appointed as the CEO of YouTube in 2014. She served the position until February 2023, when she resigned citing reasons of focusing on family, health, and personal projects.
Besides, she announced that she would continue working with YouTube teams, train members, and meet with creators. Additionally, in her resignation blog, she also stated that she had agreed with Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai to take on an advisory role in Google and its parent holding, Alphabet.

How did Marco Troper die?
Marco Troper, son of former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki, was found dead in the dormitory of UC Berkeley’s Clark Kerr Campus. The Berkeley Fire Department informed the campus police that they were administering life-saving measures on Troper after he was initially found unresponsive on his college campus.
He was later declared dead. The news of his demise was shared by his grandmother via a Facebook post. His grandmother, Esther Wojcicki, reportedly said that the boy passed away from a drug overdose. She said, “He ingested a drug and we don’t know what was in it. One thing we do know, it was a drug. We want to prevent this from happening to any other family.”
