All the players who swear by modding have just received a piece of good news. Developer CD Project Red has announced that it is working on an official mod editor for its RPG title, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. They also hinted that the new mod editor will launch sometime next year.
The developer made the announcement via an X (formerly Twitter) post. The post read, “We’re thrilled to announce that we’re working on a mod editor for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt! ⚔️It will allow you to create your own experiences in the game by making something completely new or editing existing quests and content. We’re planning on releasing it for free in 2024. Stay tuned — we’ll have more to share next year! 🐎” (sic)

Thus, the new mod editor will enable players to own their experience in the game, “making something completely new or editing existing quests and content.” In the last line, they mentioned that they will share more details in 2024. Therefore, it can be expected to be released next year, and the devs plan to keep it completely free.
Fans react to The Witcher 3 getting a mod editor
Mods aren’t particularly a new thing in The Witcher 3. The game has had mods ever since its launch, however, those were unofficial. Naturally, the fans and the community were excited to learn about the launch of the mod editor officially from CD Projekt Red themselves. The 2015 action adventure role-playing video game is one of CD Projekt Red’s highly acclaimed titles. It has some great reviews and a huge fan community.
Thus as soon as the news was announced, fans began pouring in their excitement and pleasure towards having an official mod editor. Many fans believe that this is the best decision by CD Project Red. A user ‘WesNemo’ wrote, “THE BIGGEST W OF THE YEAR,” while another user wrote, “W devs.”

The Witcher 3 mod editor is exclusive to PC
While several fans Expressed their excitement, a few console fans were left disappointed. A user ‘Eddy Gosling’ asked if the mod editor will be for consoles, too. To this, the devs replied saying, “PC only.”
Naturally, console players were a little disappointed and asked the devs to bring it to the console too. A user ‘GraMermen’ wrote, “We are waiting for it to be available on consoles as well.”

On the other hand, CS Projekt Red recently also revealed it is working on a transition to Unreal Engine 5. The Witcher 4 saga will be the first game from the CDR hood to run on Unreal Engine 5 after their strategic partnership with Epic Games.
