MrBeast‘s close friend and long-time collaborator Chris Tyson has been at the receiving end of a gender-affirming treatment lately. Almost two weeks ago, the 26-year-old opened up about receiving Hormone Replacement Therapy for almost 2 months. In response to a tweet about Chris’ transformation, Tyson wrote, “HRT, and it’s only been two months.”
Since then, the North Carolina native has been subject to harsh criticism and transphobic abuse on Twitter among other places. The most subscribed YouTuber and Tyson’s close buddy MrBeast has spoken out in his defense a couple of times as well on the platform. However, the backlash only continues to grow.
It is worth mentioning that Chris uses a number of Twitter accounts, all of which mention ‘any pronouns’ in the bio. Out of all his Twitter handles, the main account, which boasts 1 million followers has since been turned private. Chris appeared seemingly active on the account before choosing to ‘protect the tweets.’
Along with all the hoopla surrounding his controversial announcement, critics seem to forget that he’s a family man and that their backlash affects them as well to a certain degree.
Chris Tyson speaks on being a good parent
Since opening up about his HRT treatment, online trolls have thrown numerous transphobic tweets at Tyson’s way. However, it didn’t stop just there. Critics have also started accusing the 26-year-old of being an awful parent because of his recent life choices.
Chris and Katie Tyson had a beautiful baby boy named Tucker in June 2020. Despite going their separate ways, the ex-couple still seems to be on good terms, with both even following each other on social media. However, trolls have been relentless in doing their job.
Recently, a transphobic tweet criticized Tyson’s skills as a parent. To which Chris responded, “This is just more dog whistling that somehow trans and gnc folks aren’t safe around kids. Tucker begs for me to come back when I leave for like 2 days to film. He is so loved and happy. Kids aren’t born with hate, it’s taught by people like you. And my child will only know love.”
Followed by that, Chris concluded with – “I know I’m going to be a great parent, and so is every other person who puts the love of their child before everything. I made this decision because I wanted to show up as my best and happiest self for him. In a way, this way FOR Tucker.”
As part of the hate online, another Twitter user pointed out that Chris had switched his alt account’s profile picture to a digitalized version of his new appearance. The troll further elaborated, “It used to be a picture of him and his son. He can’t use a real picture because he knows he looks too masculine.”

Tyson immediately set the record straight with a simple response. He said, “I just don’t want any more photos of Tucker out there than has to be👍”
Chris seems extremely protective of his son, just as he should be. However, there is only so much hate an individual can take for their personal life decisions. What do you make of the recent ordeal surrounding MrBeast’s friend? Let us know in the comments.
