Call of Duty is among the best-selling combat video game franchises worldwide. Since the series debuted in 2003, COD games have mostly been first-person shooters that let users assume the role of troops in combat. November 10, 2023, marked the release of the most recent game in the series, COD: Modern Warfare 3.
According to a new report, the upcoming COD game, which is scheduled for release in 2024, might be another game in the Black Ops series set during the Gulf War.
The next Call of Duty game from Treyarch will be a new Black Ops game, while the final name is still being decided internally, according to Windows Central. It will take place in the midst of the Gulf War and also address the post-Cold War political ramifications around the world.

Furthermore, the report indicates that the next game will not focus on the future technology that some of the more recent Call of Duty games have embraced, but rather will return to more traditional military combat equipment and gadgets from Black Ops.
Additionally, it has been speculated that Activision is considering a sizable early access bonus for pre-ordering the game, which would grant access to the base game for numerous days and possibly even weeks for other modes.
Call of Duty 2024 development cycle
The latest release of Modern Warfare 3, which has gained notoriety for having a poor campaign mode, casts a shadow over the release of Call of Duty 2024. According to earlier reports from Bloomberg, Treyarch requested delays for its own Call of Duty game, meaning that this year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was produced in a matter of months.
Treyarch is involved in every COD project, but the development of Call of Duty 2024 will be the longest Treyarch has ever dedicated to a Call of Duty product. According to CharlieIntel, this game has a 4 year development period, which is the longest for any game in the series.

Treyarch’s 2024 release, at least, seems like a step in the right direction for gamers dissatisfied with the campaign of the latest Modern Warfare 3, because of its extended production period and early emphasis on story. Reports claim that the next title aims to present a complex narrative that looks at the Gulf War from a variety of perspectives.
Call of Duty in 2024 will be significant not only because the Black Ops series is returning, but also because the new Black Ops game will be the first Call of Duty game to be released after Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard.
