SUMMARY
- Elden Ring is FromSoftware's open world soulslike with their signature skill based gameplay setting.
- Like previous FromSoft titles, Elden Ring is full of amazing bosses that are both visually stunning and highly difficult to defeat.
Elden Ring has some of the most dangerous and difficult bosses out there which can prove to be a player’s worst nightmare. After a point, these bosses can break one’s will to continue the game, or in the worst case even break the controllers out of fury.
The developers, FromSoftware, must be credited for meticulously designing their attack patterns and unexpected behavior, which makes them truly terrifying. And these aren’t even a handful, there are over 200 of these dreaded bosses in the game.
The game offers everyone a unique level of difficulty and the bosses add to it. Here are some of the most difficult bosses that one can come across in Elden Ring:
Malenia
Malenia, the Goddess of Rot, is hands down one of the most brutal bosses out there bearing testament to the game’s cruelty. She is seen as having the perfect mix of elegance and lethality. Her attacks often require a lot of patience and skill, which only a few players can achieve. Besides, her life-steal mechanic allows this boss to heal a chunk of her health whenever she lands a hit on the player.
Undoubtedly, she is one of the biggest nightmares not just in this game, but the overall Souls-like genre thanks to her ability to instantly close gaps and release brutal combos. Malenia’s two-phase boss fight stands as the ultimate test of skill for players who enjoy challenges that demand immense power and countless tries.
Radagon of the Golden Order
The battle with Radagon of the Golden Order is one of the deadliest encounters in the game serving as one of the toughest fights and an appropriately grand finale to the game. This dangerous boss can attack at any range, due to which openings to attack him are tough to get. He comes with the ability to teleport along with his unique and deadly mix-up of combos to keep players on their toes throughout the intense fight.
To get through the hits of the boss, players must have skillful evasion and proper reads. In case players fail to perform, they are most likely to land on the negative impacts of his tremendous blows. It must be noted that his blows have even shattered the Elden Ring itself. If conquering Radagon of the Golden Order once wasn’t enough, the fight with him has a second phase too.
Maliketh The Black Blade
Maliketh is a savage beast with the ability to shred his victims with his frightening claws. Besides, he also comes with many combos of how he uses his claws. This difficult boss has a variety of one-hit kills that leave no option but to time one dodge roll to avoid them. What makes things worse is that in the process of dodging his hits players burn their health and also reduce their maximum HP.
And just when one thinks it’s over, Maliketh transitions into phase 2 and begins to mercilessly slash at the player with broken strikes. Although Maliketh in his Beast Clergyman form can be relatively easy to deal with, in his Maliketh form, he can be a nightmare.
Additionally, he can fly around the map without any predictable pattern to his movements. This makes the element of surprise difficult when fighting. And to top it all, Maliketh has to be beaten in order to advance in Elden Ring‘s main storyline, which halts the progress of many players.
Starscourge Radahn
Elden Ring boss Starscourge Radahn is a hard one to crack. He does not allow new players figure to out what his fighting style is until they have already died at least once. This boss starts while being miles away from the player by shooting arrows that can easily kill with a single hit. Additionally, Starscourge’s ranged attacks are super powerful, while his aggressive melee combos make escaping next to impossible.
Although Starscourge Radahn’s initial phase is tense enough, his second phase has the General transform into a meteor that crashes down upon the players. He can be extremely effective at catching players unaware almost instantly after entering his arena. This means newer players are likely to require some trial and error to beat Radahn.
Godskin Duo
Fighting one boss in Elden Ring is already difficult. If that wasn’t enough, FromSoftware presents you with Godskin Duo, which players must fight at the same time. Besides, both of them come with a criminally large health bar. The Duo can leave players struggling for their lives for a long time.
They share flawless coordination with their AI, which creates a fierce and unpredictable onslaught. Thus, there’s no room for error. Both these bosses flaunt many strengths as well as a few weaknesses. Additionally, players are required to constantly adjust their playstyle during the battle thanks to their unique moveset.
While these are clearly some of the most difficult bosses in Elden Rings, the game is populated with several others that make the game difficult, challenging, and interesting at the same time. Tree Sentinel, Dragonlord Placidusax, Astel, The Fire Giant, Margit, Crucible Knight Ordovis, among several other bosses are more than capable of giving players a run for their lives in the game.
