The excitement of Starfield fans knows no limits at this point as the long wait of over 25 years is all set to end in the next few days. With the game finally set for official release on September 6 and early access on September 1, the fans are leaving no stone unturned to make sure the hype stays alive.
This includes introducing a community patch for Starfield ahead of its release. Yes, you heard that right. The Starfield modding community has already launched a community patch.
The root idea of having a community patch for Starfield had sprouted back when the game was first announced. The Starfield Community Patch Project was set up back in December 2021. However, due to the delay in the release of the game, it had been put on hold. However, now that the game is finally releasing, the modding community is back on its toes.
This Starfield Community Patch Project will function in the same fashion as similar projects for Fallout 4, Skyrim SE, and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, among others.
What is the Starfield Community Patch?
The Starfield Community Patch, also known as SCP project, is a joint effort by all the Starfield mod authors as well as the wider player community of Starfield to fix bugs, errors, and other inconsistencies existent in the game. ‘
The mods would include tweaks, typos, and other slightest changes that may have been missed or are being held back by the developers. The overall objective of the SCP project is to enhance the celestial experience for all players.

The SCP project will suggest fixes included in the patch with the intention of correcting bugs and errors in the base game. These could possibly include misplaced objects, script errors, inconsistent item properties, faulty missions/quests, game-breaking exploits, missing attributes, or simple spelling and localization errors.
The mod community also specified that they do not intend to include any new content, balance changes, and tweaks that are not in line with the original vision for the game in their patch.
Will Starfield Have Mods on Xbox?
Since the game is not out yet, there is no downloadable patch content. However, once the game releases and there is at least one fix, the patch will be available to download from the Nexus Mods page or GitHub.
Talking about the availability of the SCP on Xbox, the patch will be available on Bethesda.net for both PC and Xbox Series X/S. However, it will only be available once the platform is launched by Bethesda. As of now, there is no official confirmation of when the platform will go live. The only heads-up we have is from Pete Hines who said that it will be after the launch of the game.
The official SCP website states, “It is not currently possible to install the Community Patch on Xbox consoles as Bethesda.net is not yet available for Starfield,” under the download on Xbox Series X/S tab.
Since the patch is an open source, it will likely be available for download from other places. However, users are advised to be cautious if they are downloading from any source that is not listed as official on the SFCP website.
