Electronic Arts (EA) recently released the much-anticipated game Madden NFL 24 a few days ago. Unfortunately, the game couldn’t live up to its hype and expectations which led to a lot of disappointment and bitterness among its fans.
Earlier today, the developer released its update 1.02 during the game’s maintenance. The new patch is now live on all last-gen and current-gen platforms. This is the game’s first patch ever since its launch and naturally, the expectations were pretty high.
The fans were expecting fixes to the technical issues they faced more than anything else. The patch did address some of the concerns, however, failed to lessen the negative reviews that the game has been receiving.

Fans continue to slam Madden 24
While the new patch did fix some minute issues, several fans are of the opinion that the patch makes no difference to the existing game. The disappointment and frustration of the players regarding the game continued and it was clearly seen in the review section on Steam.
A user by the moniker ‘Spaghetti Lord’ wrote, “In the year 2023, this game is miles behind where it should be. Abandon MUT and make your gameplay a strength, or PLEASE lose your damned NFL license that you don’t deserve. Football fans deserve better”
Another user who goes by the name ‘galaxies’ called the new patch the “same garbage” and questioned what the developers were actually doing if not fixing the problems in the game. They wrote, “Same garbage year after year. Insane amount of input lag. Game is jank af what do the devs actually do each year?”
A frustrated fan ‘shibari76’ went on to say that John Madden’s (the American football coach and sports commentator on whom the game is based) family should take this patch as an opportunity to sue the developer EA for “smearing the Madden name”. The review read, “This game is absolutely broken! John Madden’s family should consider suing EA for smearing the Madden name. John Madden represented a love of sports, teaching sports, entertainment, and a love of the game in general. Madden 24 doesn’t offer any of that.”
The fan further added that the NFL should reconsider giving the license of the game saying, “The NFL should consider giving the license to someone who loves the sport, rather than someone whose only interest is to get the kids money out of their pockets as quickly as possible.”
Well, looking at the reviews, it’s evident that neither the game nor the patches are helping EA’s case when it comes to Madden 24. The developer has to take some serious steps to get the game on track before Madden 24’s ship sinks.
