The third-person shooter game Risk of Rain 2 keeps on getting bigger and better. Earlier last year, the developers Hopoo Games and publishers Gearbox Publishing launched Survivors of the Void expansion for the game.
The first-ever expansion added two new survivors and a handful of new items and stages. They have now announced that the expansion will be followed up with the second expansion to the game named, ‘Seekers of the Storm.’
The devs recently held a 10th-anniversary showcase to commemorate 10 years since the release of Risk of Rain, which was released back in 2013. At the showcase, Gearbox took the opportunity to share news and reveals about what’s next with the Risk of Rain franchise.
They also introduced day and night variants of maps for the first time ever in the game. This feature will offer players a whole new way to experience a friendly location, thus bringing in a new flavor, specific props, as well as new areas for players to explore.
Similarly, the devs also announced that the previous expansion will now be available on Switch. The expansion had two Survivors, namely the skillful markswoman Railgunner and the eldritch horror Void Fiend. It also featured endless Simulacrum game modes, as well as new items, stages, and more.
Risk of Rain 2 Seekers of the Storm release date
The new expansion of Risk of Rain 2 Seekers of the Storm will introduce a lot of new content to the game, including new Survivors, new levels, new monsters, and more. The developers stated that players must keep an eye out for Developer Thoughts, which they plan to release in the coming days.
Fans are speculating that this expansion will almost certainly include a new villain who will be named ‘The False Son.’ This new villain is born out of some deep Risk of Rain lore that very few players are aware of.
Fans also believe that this time around, the devs have done their research after the first expansion. There is no official word on when Seekers of the Storm will be out or who the new survivors will be. However, fans can expect an announcement soon.
The Seekers of the Storm expansion needs only one player to enable the expansion for the whole lobby. Players who do not have Seekers of the Storm will not be able to select the new survivors or unlock new items, logbooks, or other content from the expansion.
At the Risk of Rain 2 showcase, players also received a free and noteworthy overhaul of the core game for all players who use consoles, future-proofing the title for faster bug fixes, performance improvements, and more content across all the available platforms.
