SUMMARY
- Palworld has made the headlines ever since its release on January 19, 2024.
- Microsoft and Xbox have decided to bring dedicated servers to Palworld.
The controversy and accusations of Palworld being a rip-off of Pokémon still loiter around the heads of the Palworld developers. The topic has been the center of countless debates among fans as well as Nintendo’s lawyers. However, on the other hand, the game’s massive success has assured Microsoft’s support moving forward.
Palworld received an overwhelming response when it was released on January 19, 2024. However, the game’s similarity to Nintendo’s Pokemon has caused the game to make headlines for equally negative reasons.
Microsoft supports Palworld
Xbox, in a recent blog post on Xbox Wire, revealed that they will now be working directly with Pocketpair, the developers of Palworld. They would provide the necessary assistance by supplying the resources needed to keep the momentum of the monster survival game going.
The blog post read, “On Xbox’s part, we’re working with Pocketpair to help provide support for Xbox versions of the game. We’re providing support to enable dedicated servers, offering engineering resources to help with GPU and memory optimization, speeding up the process to make Palworld updates available for players, and working with the team to optimize the title for our platform.”
Notably, the news comes at a great time, just when the Xbox Palworld players were reporting multiple issues on the console against its PC version. AT launch, it seemed like the game’s Xbox version was unpolished, as compared to the PC version. The performance was compromised, and the audio issues were glaring. Besides players could not even nickname their Pals. Not to forget the multiplayer server was also not functional on Xbox.
Palworld records new highs
Notably, the news comes just after developer Pocketpair revealed that Pokemon with Guns has crossed over 19 million total players who played the game across all platforms since its release. The Xbox Wire blog also confirms that Palworld is the biggest third-party launch in the history of Game Pass history. It clocked in over 7 million players and has a daily player peak just short of 3 million.
Interestingly, Palworld’s success does not end at Xbox. It became the second most-played game in the history of Steam with an all-time peak of 2,101,867 players, as per SteamDB.
Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe told Xbox Wire, “The response from fans has been tremendous and it’s incredible to see the millions of players around the world enjoying Palworld. This is just the beginning for us and Palworld, and the feedback we’re gathering while in Game Preview will allow us to continue to improve the experience for Pal Tamers across all platforms.”
Now that Microsoft through Xbox has stepped forward to support Palworld in growth, it won’t be surprising to see the game reach newer heights while still being in its early access.
