If recent rumors are to be believed, EA’s 2005 open-world racer Need for Speed: Most Wanted could soon be getting a remake. The remake was recently teased in a recent post from a voice actor on social media.
Need for Speed: Most Wanted was launched in 2005 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, Nintendo DS, Microsoft Windows, Game Boy Advance, and Xbox 360, and was well-received by the community. In fact, it has managed to garner some loyal fans who, to date, speak highly of the game. It was considered to be a “near enough an essential purchase” back then by reviews, with reviews as good as 8/10.
Apart from 2005’s Most Wanted title, the Need for Speed franchise has overall been a popular one among the community being regarded for having some of the best racing games. Its most recent entry, Need for Speed Unbound released on December 2, 2023. It received decent reviews from fans and critics.
Need for Speed Most Wanted 2005 remake
Voice actor Simone Bailly, who lent her voice to the character Officer Turf in Electronic Arts’ original 2005 game, posted on her Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) about the remake of Need for Speed: Most Wanted. Although the posts are now deleted from the respective platforms, fans quickly spotted the reveal.
It has been posted on Reddit by the user ‘GamingLeaksAndRumours’ who wrote, “Not sure if the post was just worded incorrectly by mistake or if she’s been hacked. Simone Bailly was the “unnamed partner” from the original game.”

Bailly as Officer Turf and Dean McKenzie as Sergeant Jonathan Cross were two of the most celebrated characters in the Need for Speed: Most Wanted’s story. They played prominent roles in leading a task force of traffic officers who are actively working to put an end to the illegal street racing scene in the city of Rockport.
When is Need for Speed Most Wanted Remake releasing?
According to Bailly’s post, a Need for Speed: Most Wanted Remake will be released in 2024. Additionally, she also tagged Criterion Games in the post, which hints that the studios may be working on the remake. Notably, the remake is not to be confused with the 2012 version of Need for Speed: Most Wanted with the same name. Bailly in her post, said that she will once again be featured as the “partner” of Sergeant Jonathan Cross, the protagonist.
This confirms she was speaking about the Electronic Arts‘ 2005 game. 2012’s Need for Speed: Most Wanted was a version of the original game with the gameplay style of the 2005 title. The only difference was that 2012 Most Wanted did not have a story.
If Bailly’s claims of the remake turn out to be true, Need for Speed fans can gear up to be treated with the much-demanded remake in 2024. If it happens, Bailly and McKenzie are expected to return, however, it’s not clear if they would record new lines for the remake or simply reuse those from the original game.
