Warner Bros. Games published the 2023 fighting game Mortal Kombat 1, which was developed by NetherRealm Studios. It is the twelfth main installment and the second reboot of the Mortal Kombat series, coming after Mortal Kombat (2011). The game was released for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on September 19, 2023.
Although Mortal Kombat 1 received mainly favorable reviews, many players desired more from the game’s online play options. It was unexpected that Mortal Kombat’s most recent version lacked features found in its predecessors since competitive current games these days place a greater emphasis on the online component.
Though there is some online play available for Mortal Kombat 1, it is not very extensive. Sending a match invite to random players is not an easy task. Online practice alternatives were likewise absent, leaving many fans perplexed as to why they had not been added.
Mortal Kombat 1 to reportedly get online lobbies
To increase its meager online play capability, Mortal Kombat 1 might soon get online practice tools and lobbies. Online practice mode and online lobbying may be introduced by the Peacemaker DLC, which is expected to arrive in February 2024, according to leaked information.
Thethiny, a popular X user who has been accurate in his information leaks about Mortal Kombat 1, has discovered evidence that suggests online lobbies will be included with the release of the Peacemaker DLC. The dataminer posted on social media that the game now has code for online lobbies.
The leaker also included a screenshot in another tweet indicating that the MK1 code now has an online practice option. It’s unclear when and whether players will be able to access the practice option.

According to earlier reports, Mortal Kombat 1’s crossplay functionality will launch in February 2024. This aligns with the latest leaks detailing the game’s online enhancements. Although the other rumored modes have not received official confirmation, assuming the data is accurate, it is plausible that they will launch within that month.
Since the game’s release, MK1 fans have been outraged by more than just the lack of online lobbies. Due to the unavailability of the Titan battle required to pop the Titan-specific Trophy/Achievement, gamers were unable to unlock the Platinum Trophy for weeks. The Mortal Kombat community has also expressed displeasure towards contentious DLC releases and microtransactions.
