Mortal Kombat 1 is a reset in the Mortal Kombat universe and storyline. The title is said to occur after the Fire God Liu Kang creates a new universe. And the leader of the Outerworld has his eyes on conquering the Earthrealm. This sets up the Mortal Kombat tournament between the worlds. Mortal Kombat 1’s co-creator, Mr.Boon, has confirmed that the story is a reset from earlier installments.
The tournament occurs on Shang Tsung’s island, a brutal, no-holds-barred affair. Each character has reasons for participating, whether personal revenge, pursuing glory, or simply saving Earthrealm. So much of the story and gameplay is known due to the earlier gameplay leak. It showcased gameplay footage of almost the entire campaign, leaking the plot, storyline, characters, and gameplay.

Mortal Kombat 1 is set to release on Early Access on September 14, 2023, and it is scheduled for regular release on September 19, 2023. Certainly, the Mortal Kombat franchise has been well-received in the fighting game community for decades, and this installment is set to raise the bar for the franchise.
Mortal Kombat 1: Premium Edition
The Premium Edition of Mortal Kombat 1 has various add-ons that make it more appealing for fans, but it will be hard on their pockets. The premium edition is priced at a difference of more than $30 from the Standard edition.
- Early Access: Pre-ordering the Premium Edition grants you five days of early access to the game. It allows you to play from September 14 instead of the general release date of September 19, 2023.
- Kombat Pack 1: This pack adds six new playable characters to the game, including Omni-Man, Quan Chi, Peacemaker, Ermac, Homelander, and Takeda.
- Exclusive Kameo Fighters: The Kombat Pack also includes five new Kameo characters—Tremor, Mavado, Johnny Cage, Ferra, and Khameleon.

- In-Game Currency: The Premium Edition comes with 1,250 Dragon Krystals. This can be used to purchase cosmetic items in the game.
- Pre-Order Bonus: If you pre-order the Premium Edition, you’ll also get a playable Shang Tsung character.
Players who pre-order the Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition will get Playable Character Shang Tsung and have 5-day early access to the game beginning Sept. 14, 2023.

The Premium Edition of Mortal Kombat 1 is priced significantly higher than the standard edition. There’s a difference of around $30. However, considering the early access, additional characters, skins, and in-game currency, it offers decent value.
The Premium edition of the game costs $109.99 on the Xbox and PS Store, which is quite high, and the standard ed around $69.99. Both versions will have the MK1: Shang Tsung add-on, with the Premium Edition containing more, as mentioned above.
