Is ‘Rust’ Making a Return in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3?
All of the iconic MW2 maps will be included in Modern Warfare 3 and will be refurbished and updated, according to industry leaker/data miner el_bobberto. In September 2022, this rumor of the improved maps first appeared.
This rumor was confirmed when the trailer for the multiplayer Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 showcased the updated renditions of the old maps in action.
The 16 maps that have been updated for current players were shown in the most recent trailer launch of the upcoming multiplayer game. All of these maps will be offered at launch and it will make an effort to capture the nostalgia of the original maps while introducing a few modifications to create fresh tactical possibilities.

The trailer of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 showed that an iconic map from their existing franchises will be featured in the game. The map is Rust, which is one of the most popular maps in the Modern Warfare series.
The map is based in a desert oil mine and has elements like pipes, platforms, ledges, containers, and other industrial elements. A tower that provides a wonderful vantage point and overlooks the entire map is also there. However, the path to the tower’s summit is perilous and not for the faint of heart.
The map promotes close-quarters battles because of its quick gameplay and acute angles. SMGs have a natural edge on the map because you can move from cover to cover while taking shots, eventually taking out your opponents at close range. Players will have many options for cover and will be able to move around with ease while they are at the ground level.
Rust features a fast-paced map that has seen several iconic plays. The map’s inclusion in the new game has increased the excitement among the game’s fans. Almost every Call of Duty remembers the good old Rust-Intervention-1v1 days.
Some other maps that are also featured in the trailer are Afghan, Derail, Estate, Favela, Karachi, Highrise, Invasion, Quarry, Rundown, Scrapyard, Skidrow, Sub Base, Terminal, Underpass, and Wasteland.
This implies that when they play on some of the maps in Modern Warfare 3, gamers will be able to go back in time to their favorite maps in Modern Warfare 2 starting on the first day of the game. Although there are few details available for the remastered edition of these maps, they are expected to resemble the original ones.
