SUMMARY
- Insomniac Games has started recovering from the massive leak that the studio became a victim of.
- The leak consisted of critical data including early game builds for Wolverine, employee data and statistics.
One of the largest hacks the industry has ever seen struck Insomniac Games lately. In some strange way, it even managed to surpass the GTA 6 hack, which resulted in the recent indefinite sentence of an 18-year-old to hospital prison. A tonne of personnel data was leaked by the attack, along with gameplay and story details for Wolverine and Insomniac’s upcoming games through 2032.
Hackers obtained confidential information about Insomniac Games staff members and leaked early gameplay from the eagerly awaited Marvel’s Wolverine game. A brief teaser for the Wolverine game from 2021 was all that had been released prior to now, but an early, stolen version of the game has been making the rounds on the internet.
Insomniac declined to pay the $2 million that the hackers demanded in exchange for not releasing the company’s confidential information. After that, millions of files were made available online, including blueprints for Spider-Man, X-Men, and Ratchet and Clank games that, thanks to a collaboration with Sony, were planned all the way until the 2030s.
Insomniac Games shares a statement about the hack
Insomniac Games, the company behind Marvel’s Spider-Man, has now issued a statement regarding the ransomware attack that occurred earlier this month at its studio, the disclosure of stolen data this week, and the dissemination of information about future projects that are currently making the rounds online.
Despite a great deal of material being leaked and revealed, the statement affirmed that its plans for Wolverine will not be altered.
The message starts out by expressing gratitude to fans for their support following the hack and saying that the developers are “saddened and angered”. “Thank you for the outpouring of compassion and unwavering support. It’s deeply appreciated. We’re both saddened and angered about the recent criminal cyberattack on our studio and the emotional toll that it’s taken on our dev team”.

The statement addresses the stolen data from the studio and states that the team is still investigating the implications. It also reaffirms that Insomniac’s intentions for Wolverine remain unchanged, even in light of the significant amount of game content that has been released and published.
The statement says, “We want everyone to enjoy the games we develop as intended and as our players deserve”. “However, like Logan… Insomniac is resilient. Marvel’s Wolverine continues as planned. The game is in early production and will no doubt greatly evolve throughout development, as do all our plans”.
Insomniac Games concludes the statement by expressing gratitude to the community for their “enthusiasm” and reaffirming that more Wolverine news would be released “when the time is right”.
The footage of Wolverine that was leaked has been making the rounds on X and online, but many video game news sites and fans have stood by Insomniac and declined to share the videos until the company is prepared to provide a thorough first look at the title.
