Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been one of fan-favorite games of the year 2023 so far. Developed by Insomniac Games, the game was released as a PlayStation 5 exclusive in October. This game allows players to play not one but two Spider-Men, namely, Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
Players also get to switch between characters on the fly on the Spider-Man 2 map, which happens to be roughly twice the size of the map seen in the first installment of the game released in 2018. Although players have two playable characters in the game, they have been demanding to play as Venom, the antagonist of the game.
Venom’s character has been so influential and strong in the game that fans cannot get over the character and have also been asking for a separate spin-off featuring the villain. Responding to the demand, the developers had earlier stated that although they do not have any concrete plans for a Venom spin-off currently, they aren’t against spin-off games that explore side stories if the fans wish to see them.
Until any confirmation comes from the Studios, players can continue playing as Spider-Man in this highly acclaimed game. But there’s some good news, too. Players can also play as Venom in Spider-Man 2.
How to play as Venom in Spider-Man 2?
It was earlier reported that players can play a brief portion of the game as Venom. However, some users have recently discovered a glitch in the game that allows players to roam around as Venom. Although players are advised not to expect to do much as the antagonist, they can certainly explore New York City, ride a bike, and even swim as Venom with the help of the glitch.
Once players reach the ‘Don’t Be Scared’ mission in the game, they will assume temporary control of Venom at Oscorp Tower. At this point, as soon as Venom is in the open city, players must climb a tower that is present to the left. In reaching the top of the tower, players will encounter invisible walls.
On running into the invisible wall to the right, the invisible wall on the left is deactivated. This allows the players to free-roam the city as Venom. Players are warned that they will likely encounter odd glitches while acting as the villain. This is mainly because Insomniac Games did not intend players to control Venom in such a way.
Due to the same reason, it is likely that the developers may patch out this glitch in the coming days. On the other hand, players must remember that performing this glitch can possibly break their game.
Experts have also warned that the glitch may also prevent enemies like Kraven the Hunter from spawning when returning to a previous checkpoint. Thus, it is advised that the glitch should only be performed on a manual save so that players can return to the game glitch-free later on.
