SUMMARY
- Microsoft has made a major decision of releasing their exclusive titles to PS5.
- This comes after rumors and leaks suggested that the company was pondering on releasing their titles to other devices.
In the past few weeks, the murmurs about Microsoft launching its game on PlayStation have led to quite some conversations in the video game market. In the recent “business update” Xbox’s Phil Spencer confirmed the news while outlining the new vision for the company.
During the business update, Microsoft officially confirmed that Xbox-exclusive games would be arriving on other platforms. The company said they were adopting this change in strategy to “ensure long-term success for both Xbox and the industry as a whole.” Although Microsoft did not reveal the names of the games in contention, they did mention that currently there are four “unnamed” games on their way.
Over the months there have been countless rumors that Xbox’s biggest exclusives would be made available on other platforms, including PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. The rumors and leaks even suggested a few games that would be coming to other consoles. Here are the four games that were leaked to arrive on different platforms:
Starfield
Initially, when the rumor mill about the issue began to spin, the community expected Xbox to release smaller games or titles on competitor platforms. However, the fans were taken by surprise when a big name like Starfield emerged.
According to a report from XboxEra, Microsoft may be looking at bringing its biggest exclusive, Starfield, to PlayStation 5. Bethesda’s outer space saga will arrive on Sony’s console sometime after the launch of its Shattered Space expansion, which is slated for this year.
Hi-Fi Rush
Another game is Hi-Fi Rush which will be making its way to Nintendo Switch and PS5 according to reports. The rumor about Hi-Fi Rush has been in the air since early and has surfaced multiple times.
It first came from leaker Nate the Hate, who suggested that a “critically acclaimed Xbox game” was coming to other platforms. Similarly, a ResetEra leaker ‘lolilolailo’, shed more light on the claim, hinting that Hi-Fi Rush could be the game.
Sea of Thieves
Xbox’s multiplatform strategy seems to go beyond just brand-new releases. Rumors have it that 2018’s Sea of Thieves may also be arriving on Switch and PlayStation.
This rumor originated from Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, who claims to have heard about a potential port. Although the claim was not that solid, it was later supported by Game File’s Stephen Totilo as well as VGC’s Andy Robinson. Stephen claims that he has heard rumors of an early 2024 launch.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
While the other three games are previously released titles, a major upcoming Xbox game, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, could also be a part of the multiplatform strategy. As per a report by The Verge, Xbox-exclusive Indiana Jones and the Great Circle may no longer release as an Xbox-exclusive.
