Grand Theft Auto 6 by Rockstar has been plagued by leaks for years, both large-scale and smaller-scale. However, following the discovery of the full trailer leak online, Rockstar released the trailer beforehand instead of waiting until December 5, 9 AM like they were originally planning to do.
Rockstar Games stated, “Our trailer has leaked so please watch the real thing on YouTube”, in a post on X. The trailer, which was posted to the official Rockstar Games channel, quickly became famous on YouTube, garnering over 55 million views in less than 11 hours.
Lucia, the first female character in the series, appears in a prison scene during the GTA 6 trailer. Later, Lucia and her partner are seen doing heists in Vice City that are reminiscent of Bonnie and Clyde. GTA VI will take players to Vice City and the rest of Leonida.
Take-Two Interactive, the company behind Grand Theft Auto, revealed the official reveal of their upcoming game in a press release, stating that it will launch in 2025 for the new generation of consoles.
GTA 6 protagonists get a major makeover in the trailer
At the beginning of the trailer, a female prisoner is introduced to the audience by the name Lucia. Many assume that she is Latin American in origin based on her accent in the game. Fans got to know about Lucia when a massive leak of the game’s development footage occurred.

A major leak of GTA 6’s development build in September 2022 set off a frenzy, releasing over ninety minutes of rough-hewn gameplay footage that served as the basis for a lot of the current rumors. Among the many insightful details in that major leak was an introduction to the game’s assumed protagonists.
In the 2022 GTA 6 leak, the two main characters, Jason and Lucia, were compared to Bonnie and Clyde. A video of the two putting up a diner in the style of Pulp Fiction alongside a few others has been offered as proof of their strong friendship.
Conversely, legendary journalist and Rockstar Games insider Jason Schreier of X hinted at one of the initial revelations about Jason. The infamous GTA 6 leaked footage included Jason in full from the pre-alpha stage. He appears to be a white-skinned man in his late 20s or early 30s. He was seen in the films sporting a backward cap, military green cargo shorts, and a soiled white tank top.
Hossein Diba, a 3D designer, had brilliantly reproduced the Lucia and Jason in-game models from Grand Theft Auto 6. Here created both the characters based on the initial footage that was leaked online on September 18, 2022. He shared his work on ArStation, which then spread like wildfire as people thought this was how Lucia and Jason would look when the game launched.
However, as GTA 6’s trailer has launched now, it is interesting to point out that GTA 6 protagonists look different from those circulating in the leaks. The leaks of both Lucia and Jason had been created out of the development footage leaks. Therefore, there was always a probability of them looking a bit different when the final game came out.
Fans had been very happy with how the protagonists looked in the leaks. However, some always had their reservations as to how accurate their looks were. This is because when the game launches the protagonists will have a more polished look.
With the trailer out now, both Lucia and Jason have some similarities with their look from the leaks such as their physical builds, they both by their faces look different from those circulating in the leaks. Lucia in the GTA 6 trailer looks like a different person than she was leaked to be. This also holds for the second protagonist Jason.
