The prayers of the Fortnite fans have finally been answered with the OG Fortnite map from Chapter 1 returning to the game. With the launch of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 5, Epic Games is taking the players back in time and putting them on the Chapter 1 map. Interestingly, the map comes with major weekly changes in this month-long season.
The Fortnite game has evolved considerably over the years since the OG map left the game. Thus, many fans had their doubts about whether the map would still be exactly the same or if it would be modified to suit the current features. Additionally, the devs had announced that relatively new features like sprinting and mantling, which were not present in Chapter 1, will now be available on the OG map for the first time. Thus, it is fairly reasonable to see some changes.

Although Fortnite Chapter 1 Map returns in Season 5 on November 3, 2023, it won’t last long. It is a shortened version of a Fortnite season, which includes weekly hotfixes that will be reimagining the island every single week for the next month.
The first patch, arriving on November 9, will make the island resemble the one from Chapter 1, Season 6. Similarly, the following week, the island will represent a combination of Seasons 7 and 8 from that first chapter. Lastly, in the final week, the island will look similar to what players may have experienced during Chapter 1, Seasons 9 and 10.
Changes in Fortnite Chapter 1 Map
Considering the fact that the map is expected to receive changes every week, it is tough to discuss the map changes on the new launch day. This is mainly because some of these changes will be short-lived and will be replaced with drastically different new features in the coming weeks.
However, one major change that fans have noticed is how many places of interest (POIs) there were earlier on a Fortnite map. The OG Chapter 1 map had a total of 18 POIs across two biomes, namely, grass and desert. These are set to return on the launch day, including fan favorites like Tilted Towers, Greasy Grove, and Retail Row.
As the season progresses, the weekly changes will take effect, introducing new POIs and biomes. These will alter the island at a pace never seen before in the game. It is set to include things like a snow biome in Week 3 (November 16) and Jetpacks for travel in Week 4 (November 23).
Similarly, for the Zero Build players, the island has been negligibly modified to account for the mode. This feature did not exist in Chapter 1. It includes ascenders and zip lines that can help players traverse without using building mechanics, which are a crucial inclusion considering how some areas of the map would otherwise be inaccessible.
In several cases, the island is precisely as players would remember; however, the devs have adjusted some details as required to fit the modern context of Fortnite, such as retaining the use of sprinting, sliding, and mantling.
