Sega and Sports Interactive’s latest title, Football Manager 2024, is all set to reach the global audience on November 6, 2023. As the game gears up for release, the early reviews for the game have arrived, and they look promising.
The upcoming Football Manager 2024 game is the 20th and the “most complete edition” in the Football Manager series of games, which allows players to step into the role of a football team manager. The game has been developed by Sports Interactive and published by Sega.
The upcoming strategic sports simulation video game is the annual release of the series, which started in 2004, with Football Manager 2005. The game’s official website states that the upcoming installment is filled with new additions that widen the immersion and elevate the players’ gameplay experience. It comes with upgrades to set pieces, man management, squad building, Matchday, and a lot more.
In addition, the developer gives players the option to start a new story or import their existing career from FM23. The developers had earlier promised that this year’s edition is a ‘love letter’ to the franchise. And the early reviews have a similar story to tell.
Football Manager 2024 reviews
The upcoming title is enjoying a rating of a good 86 on Metacritic currently. Metacritic is a review site aggregating reviews of films, television shows, music albums, and video games. VideoGamer gives the game a fantastic 95, writing, “This game is a shining example of how annual releases should be done. FM remains the standard bearer that all football games should be following.”
Similarly, GGRecon rates the game 90. The review from GGRecon reads, “Football Manager 2024 is a true return to form for the series. Every addition we have seen feels important, more so than in the last couple of years, whilst the frustrations of FM23 have been left behind. The debate about annual releases will always rage on, but in this case, it’s justified.”

The review further shares that the narratives that develop throughout a save, the relationships one creates with players, and the joy of a last-minute winner are as exciting as ever. The review suggests that the developers are often known to promote this series as the most authentic, complete footballing experience, and this year, it’s hard to debate on that.
Reviews also suggest that Football Manager 2024 brings in a lot of improvements along with smaller additions that may not necessarily have a wide-ranging impact on the entire gaming experience. However, the game does target some areas where there has been clear room for improvement in the previous editions.
Notably, Football Manager 2024 is the last edition of the franchise to be built on the Match Engine. The developers have already announced that the next edition, Football Manager 2025, will be built on the new Unity Game Engine.
