Electronic Arts Inc. aka EA is a provider of gaming software. Digital interactive video games for electronic consoles and video game systems are developed, marketed, published, and distributed by the company. On gaming consoles such as the Microsoft Xbox, Sony PlayStation, Nintendo WiiU, Apple App Store, and Google Play store, its video game software and content are compatible.
Additionally, EA creates game software for PCs, tablets, smartphones, and the internet. Video games are sold by the company under its own brands, which include Plants v. Zombies, Apex Legends, Battlefield, Need for Speed, and The Sims. Additionally, it advertises using licensed properties like Star Wars, Madden NFL, and FIFA.
The company uses both retail and digital distribution channels to market its games and services. EA Entertainment Technology & Central Development (EA Entertainment, short for EA Entertainment, formerly EA Games) and EA Sports make up the company’s two primary divisions as of June 2023.
The nationality of Electronic Arts
Based in Redwood City, California, Electronic Arts Inc. was established in 1982. Three former Apple Computer managers formed it: Tom Mott, William Bingham (Bing) Gordon, who became the company’s director of marketing, and William M. (Trip) Hawkins III, who was an Apple marketing director before becoming the new company’s head at the age of 26.
Hawkins, together with four other friends, decided over dinner to start a business that would focus on creating and promoting computer games software. EA began with eleven employees and $5 million in funding from individual investors.
The American company’s market capitalization, which was more than 35 billion dollars in April 2023, places it third among the top gaming companies in the globe. The company’s top-selling products include the Sims, EA Sports franchises, and other games for consoles and mobile devices.

The massive video game company Electronic Arts brought approximately $7.4 billion in revenue during the 2023 fiscal year. This is the company’s best annual performance ever, up 6% from the previous year’s revenue, mostly because full-game downloads have increased year over year.
Not surprisingly, given its Californian headquarters, a sizable portion of EA’s impressive revenue originates in North America. The company has remained true to its beginnings and still gets the majority of its revenue from console gaming, even in an ever-evolving gaming market. But between 2014 and 2020, EA’s revenue in this market more than doubled thanks to the growth of mobile gaming.
