The loyal fans of Elden Ring after a long wait finally got their rewards in the form of the DLC trailer. The Shadow of Erdtree DLC trailer was released on February 21. The trailer was long due as the DLC was announced almost a year back in 2023. The trailer had three minutes of gameplay which rekindled the interest of the fans in the game.
Fans can go to the official YouTube channel of Bandai Namco to watch the The Shadow of Erdtree trailer. The trailer amazed more than half a million views in the first 16 hours of its release.
Fans of the game are very excited as the trailer promised a lot in the new DLC. The trailer showed new adversaries and a completely new environment. However, some fans were able to spot a very intrinsic addition to the game which hints at a return to the fan-favorite Soulsborne genre.
Shadow of the Erdtree brings feature from Dark Souls 2
Many might have missed this detail at first, but some keen-eyed fans have found a reference to none other than Dark Souls 2 in the recently out Shadow of Erdtree DLC trailer. Fans noticed that the Shadow of Erdtree DLC trailer introduced a brand-new mechanic at about 1:55 minutes. This was the introduction of an authentic hand-to-hand combat.
Fans know that even when Elden Ring has some good fist weapons, like the Star Fist and Caestus, they cannot be compared to the famous Bone Fist from Dark Souls 2.
Therefore, when fans noticed a dropkick motion in the Shadow of Erdtree trailer they were surprised. This motion seems to be an Ashes of War. When we talk about the dropkick in Dark Souls 2, it is one of the most well-liked moves among the fans.

Although players had high hopes for the dropkick to return in Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring, their hopes of making the Souls arena into new martial arts clubs never transpired.
But it now looks like FromSoftware has been actively listening to what their gaming community wants and has planned to reintroduce the dropkick move in the Shadow of Erdtree.
