Cyberpunk 2077 featuring celebrities is nothing new. The game has seen appearances from Keanu Reeves and Canadian musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer, Grimes in the past. The upcoming installment Phantom Liberty DLC also has actor, Idris Elba playing a major role.
The initial launch of the game turned out to be an infamous misstep in the history of video game. Although the developer CD Projekt Red tried to defend it, but it didn’t help. If that wasn’t enough the development of Cyberpunk 2077 was also reportedly plagued by big promises and expectations.
See ya in 2077 😉

It didn’t end there, apparently it was also plagued by the multi-billionaire Elon Musk. A recent biography of the SpaceX founder by Walter Isaacson titled Elon Musk, revealed that Musk was desperate to have his own appearance in Cyberpunk 2077. The Tesla CEO was reportedly “obsessed” with the game.
His obsession was so intense that he ended up ‘threatening’ the devs with a gun.
Will Elon Musk make a cameo in the Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty DLC?
As recorded in the biography, Isaacson mentions that while Grimes, Musk’s former girlfriend with whom he has two kids, was recording dialogues for Lizzy Wizzy, Musk “showed up at the studio wielding a two-hundred-year-old gun.” Grimes has voiced Lizzy Wizzy, a cybernetic popstar and romance option in Cyberpunk 2077.
Grimes informed Issacson that “the studio guys were like sweating,” on seeing Musk with a gun. The gun is rumored to be the same replica flintlock pistol that Musk keeps beside his bed. Further Musk informed Issacson, “I told them that I was armed but not dangerous.”

The author of the biography also reasons why Musk was so involved in the project. He stated that Musk became preoccupied with Cyberpunk 2077 since it focused on technologies just like his own companies, specifically Neuralink.
Notably, crashing the studio with a gun certainly did work for the X CEO, as did manage to get a cameo in Cyberpunk 2077. Fans noticed that a bathroom orderly from the Corpo intro in the game appears suspiciously like him at any rate. Thus it is safe to say he landed an incredibly small cameo in the game, with only an NPC resembling him.
However, it is still unknown if he will have an appearance in the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty DLC too. Developer CD Projekt Red launched its 2.0 Update yesterday, September 21, 2023, with the Phantom Liberty DLC launching on September 26, 2023 for gamers worldwide. Interestingly the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty DLC will star Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom actor Idris Elba.
