The characters of the famous James Cameron movie Avatar have finally arrived on the consoles and the screens of the players as playable characters. Thus Avatar fans can now play as their favourite Avatar character thanks to Ubisoft’s latest title, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
Avatar Frontiers of Pandora from Ubisoft arrived on December 7, 2023, in five different editions. The game was also made available for players to pre-order ahead of the official release with the pre-order bonus, however, without the early access benefit. Nonetheless, the five editions of the game came with multiple different perks including a statue of the protagonist Na’vi in the Deluxe edition.
The new game is based on the popular movie Avatar, the game was released on December 7, 2023, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Amazon Luna this December.
Is Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora on Steam?
Unfortunately, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, has not been released on Valve’s game distribution service Steam. At least at the time of the release. Thus, Steam users who were waiting to get their hands on a copy from Steam were left disappointed. However, things may change in the future.
Interestingly, Although Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is not available on Steam, the good news is that it is available on Steam Deck. It is to be noted that the game is not sold directly via the Steam store for the Steam Deck. However, it requires Steam Deck players to install Ubisoft’s launcher to run the game on their handheld devices.
Players must note that even if they manage to get the game on the Steam Deck, it will not run very well, hardly hitting 30 FPS consistently.
It’s a highly demanding title on PC, because of its immersive world and visuals. The same route applies to players wanting to play the game on PC. PC players can download the game from the Ubisoft Connect and Epic Games Store.
When will Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora arrive on Steam?
It is not particularly surprising to see Ubisoft’s latest title miss out on launching on Steam. It has happened multiple times in the past that Ubisoft skipped a Steam release for their title at launch.
That being said it does not mean that Avatar Frontiers of Pandora will never come to Steam. In the past Ubisoft titles were not released on Steam at launch. However, they ended up releasing on a later date for the players. Examples of such delayed releases on Steam include Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Far Cry 6.
Thus there is still a little hope for the latest adventures of Na’vi adventure to arrive on Steam, just that it is uncertain when. As Assassin’s Creed Valhalla initially launched in 2020, it took two years to make its way onto Valve’s platform. Therefore, it cannot be said with certainty when exactly the critically acclaimed game will arrive on Steam.
