Ubisoft’s brand new game Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is all set to arrive on December 7, 2023. The community is looking forward to playing the characters from James Cameron’s movie, Avatar: The Way of Water. As the game preps for release the early reviews have already arrived and they look promising enough.
The game is designed to be played in a first-person perspective, wherein players get to take control of a Na’vi orphan who is raised and trained as a soldier by the Resources Development Administration (RDA). Na’vi is then put into suspended animation and wakes up fifteen years later only to find himself in an abandoned facility.
The player as a Na’vi embarks on a journey across the Western Frontier, a never-before-seen region of Pandora. Here the players get to discover their origins and organize the local Na’vi tribes to revolt against the RDA as they try to exploit the natural resources of the Western Frontier. Critics believe that the game’s story is partially linked to that of the films, while also establishing itself as a standalone.
Avatar Frontiers of Pandora reviews
Currently, the early reviews of Avatar Frontiers of Pandora are pretty decent for a new game. It has a Metascore of 74 based on 52 reviews. It has received a wave of mixed reviews from the critics. VideoGamer rates the game 80 and writes, “Look past Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora’s dull story and you’ll find spectacle and freedom lurking in its Na’vi customs and breathtaking ecosystems.”
Meanwhile, IGN rated the game a 70, saying, “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora features a stunning alien world to explore with a refreshingly uncluttered approach to navigation, countless enemy bases to destroy and Na’vi clan sidequests to complete, and no shortage of exotic flora and fauna to harvest and hunt.”
However, IGN believes that its combat is rather one-dimensional, and its mission design is a bit on the repetitive side. Besides the environment also lacks major surprises beyond visual splendor. Thus, suggesting that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a solid shooting adventure that can be considered to be more inside the box than out of this world.
