SUMMARY
- Apex Legends' game changing Season 20 Breakout is set to release soon.
- The new season brings several massive changes including the new EVO and perk system.
Apex Legends is celebrating the fifth year of its release by rolling out Season 20 of Apex Legends. The new season is called Breakout and for the entire season, the developers will be making a Legend available for free every two weeks for the players.
Additionally, to obtain Battle Pass Stars and permanently unlock each Legend, players will have to complete a series of in-game tasks in Apex Legends.
Breakout will not come with any new Legends. However, players shouldn’t be disappointed as the new season’s highlight is the Legends upgrade system which is all set to change the meta of the game forever.
All changes in the Breakout patch
Apex Legend’s Breakout patch comes with a lot of changes to the game’s crafting system, evo systems, weapons and attachments, legends, bug fixes, graphics, maps, and many more. Below is the complete patch notes for Season 20.
The season also introduces the new perk system for legends.
Performance mode: 120HZ
Players with 120Hz screens on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X can now select the new “Performance” mode option in the Video Settings menu. This option optimizes the content and lowers the visual quality in order to achieve 120 frames per second.
All Balance updates
Crafting 2.0
- Crafting Rotation has ended, and all weapons and treasure are once again on the ground.
- Only Player Banners, Ammo, Medkit, and Shield Battery are available for crafting.
- Players may now access inventory from the Crafting menu.
- Rampart’s Big Maude:
- Now all paintball guns are free, and the dispense time has been extended.
- More weapon options, however gold-kitted weapons are no longer available.
- Each participant is only given one free weapon per match (Loba can steal a second with Black Market).
- Replicators:
- Individual Replicators are now for single-use per player, per match.
- Every game will start with 12 spawned.
- Decreased interaction time with instant printing.
- Printed items left alone will auto-eject from the Replicator after some time.
Care Package Weapon Rotation
- Entering the Care Package is EVA-8.
- Prowler goes back to the floor.
Gold Weapons Rotation
- R-301, RE-45, Mastiff, Devotion, 30-30
Weapons & Attachments updates
30-30
- Base damage dropped from 42 to 39.
- Headshot multiplier for Skullpiercer dropped to 2.0 from 2.1.
- As an integrated Hop-Up, the dual loader was removed, and each reload simply loads one shell.
- Reload speed bonus for Marksman Stock adjusted to equivalence with similar sniper guns.
- Now, reloading three shells in a row accelerates the reload process by 20% for the duration of the reload.
- Ammo capacity:
- No change in base capacity (6).
- White Magazine was downsized from 8 to 7.
- Blue Magazine downsized from 10 to 8.
- Purple & Gold Magazine dropped from 12 to 10 issues.
EVA-8 (Care Package)
- Damage dropped from 7 to 6.
- The fire rate went from 2.4 to 3.
- Reduced recoil to better match the significantly higher fire rate.
- Hammer Points: +1 damage and a 20% damage boost against flesh.
- Shells reloaded on the slide increased to two (from one) in the gold shotgun bolt.
Hemlock
- Damage dropped from 21 to 20.
- Hipfire spread grew.
- The spread delay went from 0.21 to 0.28.
L-Star
- Not able to equip Attachments for Barrels.
Prowler (Floor)
- Reverted to the version without the Care Package.
- Damage dropped to 15 (from 16).
- Select Fire Hop-Up was eliminated.
- The burst delay went from 0.24 to 0.28.
- The spread delay went from 0.15 to 0.28.
R-99
- ADS recoil both horizontally and vertically increased.
R-301
- Reduced hipfire spread.
SMG Ballistics
- All SMGs saw a boost in projectile gravity.
- Most SMGs’ projectile launch speeds were lowered; the Prowler remained the same.
1x Digital Threat
- Cannot be equipped with SMGs.
- 20% reduction in spawn rates.
Laser Sights
- Decreased spread multipliers:
- White Laser Sight was changed from x0.8 to x0.9.
- Blue Laser Sight was changed from x0.6 to x0.8.
- Purple Laser Sight was changed from x0.4 to x0.7.
Legends update
Heavy-Rig Legends (Gibraltar, Caustic, Pathfinder, Newcastle, Revenant)
- Use first-person movement animations with a medium rig now.
- Although the actual game speeds have not altered, these Legends will operate more smoothly.
Support Legends
- Contents of the Extended Supply Bin have been enhanced.
Ballistic
- Sling: When equipped, Sling Weapons now come with all White attachments.
- Tempest: the ally range’s effect radius has been raised from 13 meters to 90 meters.
Bloodhound
- Tracker: The Ult Charge feature of the Raven scan is now gated behind the Hunting Ravens update.
Catalyst
- Dark Veil:
- lifespan dropped from 25 to 15 years.
- length decreased to 40 meters from 55 meters.
Conduit
- Radiant Flash
- Cooldown increased to 26s from 21s.
- Temporary Shield generation rate decreased to 15HP/s from the previous 20HP/s.
- Temporary Shield generation time increased to 9s from the previous 8s.
- Energy Barricade
- Mine duration reduced to 45s from the previous 60s.
- Mine HP reduced to 200HP from the previous 250HP.
- When mines are placed too near to one another, the distance at which they are removed has been raised by approximately 100%.
Crypto
- Surveillance Drone
- There has been a minor boost in drone recall speed.
- Drone entry and exit transitions are now quicker.
Horizon
- Gravity Lift: cooldown increased to 25s from the previous 20s.
Lifeline
- When Upgrade Cores are enabled, Lifeline’s Care Package now has a 50/50 chance of dropping an additional smart device rather as a big consumable in place of an armor.
Mad Maggie
- Wrecking Ball
- Won’t perish at the first blow from an opponent
- Rather, the Wrecking Ball will set off one explosion and continue, setting off a second explosion at a later time.
- After the initial impact, the ball cannot strike the same player again for two seconds.
- The knockback and shellshock effects can only have an impact on a player once.
- Will now demolish and bounce through devices it encounters.
- Won’t perish at the first blow from an opponent
Octane
- Jump Pad: The double-jump’s audio falloff has been tweaked to be marginally less detectable at a distance.
Pathfinder
- Insider Knowledge:
- 15% Ult Cooldown (formerly 10%) and 50% Ult Charge (previously 100%) are now awarded with Scanning Care Packages.
- Survey beacon or Ring Console scans are likewise covered by this.
All Maps
Map Updates
- A brand-new display at the Apex Games Museum on World’s Edge pays tribute to the Outlands’ past and the Games’ inception. The museum is full with interesting facts, community artwork, and even a few Easter eggs. It is decorated with interactive kiosks, artwork, and a red carpet flair.
- Every map has unique celebration attire, such as banners, flags, and even the return of our enormous Legend balloons. This year’s cast is completely new and was created with the Breakout look in mind.
- To go with the seasonal motif, tridents, jump balloons, gravity cannons, loot bins, and more have been given a modern makeover.
Thunderdome
- Take in the action on a targeted 3-lane multiplayer map that is made for quick gameplay.
- Available for all mixtape game modes, including Control, Gun Run, and Team Deathmatch.
- Swell with anticipation as you hear the arena stands’ cheers.
Modes update
Mixtape
- Modified loadouts to account for changes in weapon meta.
- Gun Run: Charge Rifle was eliminated, while Kraber was added.
New LTM: Straight Shot
- In order to streamline loot, weapons spawn equipped at varying rarities.
- 30-person minimum in the lobby and shorter rounds.
- From the death screen, reschedule with your group immediately.
- Without a Jumpmaster, players drop down from above a random point of interest.
Ranked update
- Level required changed from 50 to 20.
- Player Rankings are now accessible.
- Trials for promotions have been eliminated.
- The provisional matches have been eliminated.
- Requirements for Ranked Tier RP will be raised.
- The matchmaker will utilize the RP value.
- The squad’s greatest RP value will be applied to full-stack premades.
- Splits are coming back.
- Updated Bonuses:
- Earn a 50% bonus when you eliminate a higher-ranked player and make a contribution. This is known as the Challenger Bonus.
- Top 5 Streak Bonus: Earn up to 40 RP bonus if you continue to place fifth or higher in your placement streak.
- 2 match streak: +10 RP
- 3 match streak: +20 RP
- 4 match streak: +30 RP
- 5+ match streak: +40 RP
World Systems update
Extended Supply Bins
- Smart Gear now comes with Extended Supply Bins
- The hidden shelf contains gear upgrades for backpacks, helmets, and knockdown shields.
- If a squad member has white gear or none at all, there is a slim possibility that they will receive purple gear.
- Little likelihood of awarding purple gear to the full team in exchange for gold gear.
- Provides MRBs & Heat Shields more consistently when needed.
- More likely to receive a medical kit than a syringe.
Ring Exploit Prevention
- If a player spends too much time outside the Ring, they will first receive a warning before being removed.
Bug fixes
- Now, double-clicking on an item in the Melee Tab equips it.
- Dummies for firing ranges no longer clip through broken doors.
- Tridents can no longer have Legend Ult items or Heat Shields placed on them.
- All 5 challenges are now listed in the in-match challenge display.
- Pings made by players might be eliminated once more.
- Trident will no longer be used by players to teleport into the structure that faces the combat night ring.
- Valkyrie is no longer able to pass beneath Olympus’ turbine.
- Voiceline no longer identifies a squadmate after removing enemy Banner Cards.
Audio fixes
- Many in-game conversations are now synchronized amongst clients.
- Squad members can now be muted when watching.
Graphics fixes
- DX12 (PC) addressed a number of crash causes.
Legends fixes
- It is no longer possible to place Ash Ult, Rampart Tac/Ult, Wattson Tac/Ult, or Loba Ult outside of bounds.
- Now, Conduit’s Tac is visible to spectators.
- Now, Gibby’s Tac is destroyed by Mad Maggie’s Ult.
- When Catalyst’s Piercing Spikes destroy a mirage decoy, it stops making hit sounds and keeps the trap active.
Quality of life updates
- Damage feedback for Destructible Legend abilities is constant
- Items that formerly displayed red (flesh) damage numbers will now display gray damage numbers, which will also indicate whether the object is destroyed.
- Included a better way to see gray damage numbers.
- Firing Range: Nessie decided to make some changes after being inspired by some videos that were hundreds of years old. The polka dots in purple and yellow are very attractive.
- Gun Run: Rather than reading “<Team> is the Champion,” the victorious team’s victory message now reads “You Are the Champion.”
- The Seer Passive option, which regulates how rapidly you may turn when unarmed and using Heart Seeker, has been added in accordance with Optic ADS Sensitivity.
- Aim assistance in Performance Mode has been adjusted to feel like 60Hz mode.
- Support for adjustable triggers and enhanced haptics for PlayStation and PC.
Navigation
- Death Menu: Added a Squad Tab to view details about your group, submit a report, and muffle VoIP calls and pings while you’re dead.
- Legends Tab: When your cursor is not over a Legend, the selected Legend will not change to the featured one.
- Melee Tab: You can now click on the Death Box icon.
- Store Tab: a new subtab with better navigation and design that houses offers that were previously in Featured, Specials, Seasonal, and more.
- When an event is ongoing, the Event Tab, previously located under the Seasonal Tab now becomes available.
Graphics update
- General FX GPU rendering improvements.
- Increased rendering quality for Low Res FX.
- Better Lighting with Volumetric Control.
- After going through a catalyst wall, the FX was optimized for improved GPU performance.
- For improved GPU performance, Fuse’s ultimate damage has optimized effects.
- Parallelization of rendering tasks led to better CPU graphics performance on the PS5 and Xbox X/S.
