In August, Ubisoft announced the signing of an agreement that will grant Ubisoft cloud streaming rights to titles such as Call of Duty and others, with the agreement taking effect following Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The games will be available on Ubisoft+, and Ubisoft will be able to license them to cloud gaming firms, service providers, and console manufacturers.

Microsoft’s massive Activision Blizzard transaction is officially finalized, and Ubisoft now gets cloud streaming rights for Call of Duty, all other existing Activision Blizzard titles, plus any that come out in the next 15 years. It was a crucial concession from Microsoft that helped get the transaction approved by UK regulators.

With the exception of EU countries and the many cloud gaming arrangements Microsoft already struck, Ubisoft will now control where Call of Duty and other Activision Blizzard games appear on cloud gaming services. Activision Blizzard games will now be available on Ubisoft Plus, the company’s gaming subscription service, thanks to the agreement with Ubisoft.
Players will soon be able to play their favorite Ubisoft games as well as stream their favorite Activision Blizzard titles across many platforms, including PC, Xbox consoles, and Amazon Luna, as well as on the PlayStation platform via Ubisoft+ Classics, with a single membership to Ubisoft+ Multi Access.

The arrangement will provide gamers with even more access to a wide collection of beloved and iconic titles, as well as the most recent releases, via cloud streaming. Work on bringing these games to Ubisoft’s subscription service begins now, although it’s unclear when they’ll all be available. While the arrangement is just for 15 years, the licenses are perpetual, meaning Ubisoft will still have the rights and will be able to provide games to people and businesses all across the world outside of the EEA even after those 15 years are up.
