- Several leaks hit Insomniac's upcoming Marvel's Wolverine and showcased gameplay footage, core mechanics and even test footage of the title.
A hacker gang had allegedly attacked Insomniac Studios, the company that developed Spider-Man 2, and threatened to release critical information about Wolverine.
According to a December 12 article in CyberDaily, the studio is currently battling a ransomware attack from the hacker collective Rhysida. The gang claimed to have information regarding Insomniac’s next game, Marvel’s Wolverine, as well as private records (passports, internal emails, documents, etc.) from both current and former studio workers, including Yuri Lowenthal, who voiced Peter Parker.
The outlet claims that the gang has gotten character art and screenshots from the next game, some of which show off other Marvel characters that might make an appearance in Marvel’s Wolverine. According to reports, Rhysida has already held an auction with a starting price of 50 bitcoin, or roughly $2 million, for the data setup. They had given Insomniac seven days to react.
Insomniac’s leaks showcase Marvel’s Wolverine
Insomniac has just released a teaser trailer back in 2021 and has remained silent on anything pertaining to Marvel’s Wolverine. Since then, it has been revealed that Marvel’s Wolverine will be set in the same universe as the Spider-Man video games and may debut “as early as Fall 2024“; however, no official source has confirmed this.
However, reportedly a new leak regarding Marvel’s Wolverine has surfaced online. The source of the leaked footage is still unknown as of now. The leaked footage has been posted on X by @VslayerV. The leaked footage throws light on critical aspects of the upcoming game.
The clip which seems to be from the development footage of the game shows Marvel’s Wolverine to have similarities with Spider-Man. The footage shows Logan moving around the city in the game. However, one interesting fact that comes to light here is that Wolverine’s in-game movement is similar to that of Spider-Man.

The footage shows Wolverine moving around the city by jumping onto one building after another in a similar fashion as that of Spider-Man. While it is known to everyone that Spider-Man uses his webs to move from one building to another, the footage shows Wolverine using his claws to move in the similar manner.
The leaked footage has drawn interesting reactions from the fans. @IntenseReiss tweeted on X, “So it’s basically Spider-Man game”. “since when does Wolverine climb walls”, @juicycoconutz tweeted. @TipDiamond2 tweeted, “Reminds me of sunset overdrive wall running”.
As of now, Insomniac Studios has not reacted to this new leaked footage that surfaced online. While Sony had previously acknowledged that Insomniac has been compromised, it still remains to be seen as to what steps the Studio takes after this massive leak.
