Players often face this problem with Soulslike games, that these games are not able to replicate or even come close to classics like Dark Souls and Elden Ring. These classics have set the bar for soulslike games so high that other games often seem disappointing.
Recently, when Lies of P was released on September 19, 2023, fans were particularly impressed by the efforts of Neowiz Games and Round8 Studio. The unbeaten developer in the soluslike genre for years now has been FromSoftware. They have a record of acing and setting examples of the genres they created. Titles like Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Elden Ring are a testament to the developer’s excellence.
But with Lies of P, fans believe FromSoftware may just have equal competition. The game is loosely based on the 1883 Italian novel by Carlo Collodi titled, ‘The Adventures of Pinocchio.; The game revolves around Pinocchio’s adventures as he explores the environment and fights various bio-mechanical enemies.
Although the game has been criticized for its storytelling and a few other aspects, all the negative reviews were overshadowed by the excellence of its combat. And fans cannot stop but praise it for being true to its soulslike genre.
