SUMMARY
- Adam "Edge" Copeland faced off against Finn Balor at WrestleMania 39.
- After the event, Edge had some bizarre ideas for his character WWE.
WWE Hall of Famer Edge is one of the most brilliant minds in the world of professional wrestling. His thirst for giving memorable moments and matches has made him what he is today. Making his debut in the Attitude Era for the WWE, Edge’s path to success wasn’t easy as he was not very well over with the fans in his first solo run with the company.
After his underwhelming run, he aligned himself alongside WWE veteran Gangrel and formed a new group named The Brood. During this time, fans loved larger-than-life characters and Brood portrayed a spooky look which was instantly liked by the fans. The Ultimate Opportunist always talks highly about his then-formed group and is highly helpful to the faction for his success in the initial days.
The Rated R Superstar wanted to have a throwback to the Attitude Era during WrestleMania 39 as he pitched an idea to bring Gangrel for his match against Finn Balor. During a podcast with Chris Van Vliet, Edge stated how the idea was shut down and denied by everyone backstage. “I tried. I just got shut down. Every person shut it down.”, stated Edge.

Balor and Edge had a rivalry for more than a year going into WrestleMania 39 and Edge wanted it to be more memorable with Gangrel on his side. The Rated R Superstar also believes that fans would have been elated seeing a little Brood reunion at WrestleMania after all these years.
Edge had a brood-styled entrance despite not having Gangrel by his side at WrestleMania 39
While the company denied his request to have Gangrel, the 50-year-old had his entrance identical to his Brood entrance. The match itself is renowned for Adam Copeland’s renowned “Brood Edge” entrance, which included Slayer’s “South of Heaven” soundtrack. During the podcast, Copeland revealed how WWE stated that no one would remember the group and Gangrel after so many years.
“This isn’t a knock on WWE but I’d always get the ‘nobody remembers’. I’m like, people remember, wrestling fans remember and wrestling fans want to be rewarded for remembering, and that’s a way to reward them.”, said Edge on rebooting old memories from the past and producing new ones.
Despite not having Gangrel, the match was one of the best matches on the card. Finn delivered in the bout despite getting injured and gave an outstanding performance. Though the Rated R Superstar won the match, it would have been more amazing if Gangrel had been with him.
Edge and Christian were a part of The Brood led by Gangrel in the Attitude Era
The Brood was a supernatural faction formed in 1997 by Gangrel which consisted of Edge and Christian. Three of them gave several unforgettable moments to the WWE Universe throughout the Attitude Era. They had a memorable alignment and feuds with The Undertaker’s Ministry of Darkness. Their gimmick was based on Vampires, which was heavily liked by the fans.
With a ring of fire surrounding the trio, Gangrel used to show his pointed teeth while passing a red liquid to Edge and Christian during their entrance. Brood was also popular for Blood baths during the Attitude Era. Edge brought back the blood baths during his rivalries with Seth Rollins and The Miz during his final run with the company.
