Ever since Dwayne Johnson stepped into the world of Hollywood, his WWE appearances have drastically decreased. It is not just the fans who have wanted him to align himself with one industry, but the WWE stars too. For this reason, Randy Orton once made bold statements against DJ, thus landing himself in trouble.
The incident dates back to 2011, when The Rock made a WrestleMania return. While the WWE Universe went bonkers with his return, Randy Orton was not happy with the same. In an interview, Orton revealed that he did not want The Rock to claim to work for WWE and still stay out of action.

However, The Rock did not take the statements in a positive light and went up to Vince McMahon to make his complaint. As per Randy Orton, Dwayne Johnson said, “Randy Orton did an interview and he buried me and Triple H.” This angered Vince McMahon and eventually, The Viper found himself in trouble.
“I got in trouble because when I say I got in trouble, I heard Vince was mad,” said Randy Orton. However, Triple H was never the man that Orton dissed. He claimed that the only reason The Rock brought him into the scene was to get himself heard. Eventually, the two WWE stars followed the same career paths and reconciled.
Did Dwayne Johnson and Randy Orton ever have a match in the WWE?
Dwayne Johnson and Randy Orton have had multiple off and on screen segments during their pro wrestling careers. In all their WWE journeys, the duo never got to face each other in a singles match. Despite being two of the best to ever step inside the ring, the storyline could never go in their favour.
U think Bob O Sr & Chief Maivia along with our pops’ Bob Jr & the Soulman ran up and down those roads for decades taking bumps just so we can sell out WM36 so you can RKO my ass thru the earth. My body’s still recovering from that Evolution beatdown you gave me at WM20 😂

The Viper has tried multiple times to put their much-anticipated feud into reality, but in vain. Apart from the duo, the fans have been extremely excited to see The Rock go against The Viper for once in their lives. However, there were two instances when Dwayne Johnson and Randy Orton got the opportunity to thrash each other in the ring.
Their first faceoff came in 2003, while they were a part of the Battle Royal for the WWE Heavyweight Championship. Another time when the duo faced off was at WrestleMania 20, where the duo of The Rock and Mick Foley faced the trio of Randy Orton, Batista and Ric Flair. However, these two matches could not compensate for the dream match that everyone has anticipated to date.
