Draymond Green opens up about retirement and playing with LeBron James
Retirement has been a big question circling around the Warriors trio especially due to their age and the decline they’ve experienced as a team. Draymond Green spoke to Shaq about the time he has left in the league and who he wants to play with before hanging it up. He said, “I got maybe three, four years left. Before I retire, is there one player I want to play with? I thought I had the opportunity this summer to check that off the box. It didn’t happen for me. But I would have loved to play with [LeBron James].”
He added, “I want to see how his mind works on a day-to-day basis in the basketball setting. When I look at guys with IQ, I think that’s one of the best things about Bron, is his IQ and I can respect that.” LeBron and Draymond have shown mutual respect towards each other. James, also a 4x NBA Champion has expressed his desire to play alongside someone like Green as well.
Draymond Green dismisses the idea of leaving Golden State
Based on their 2023-24 campaign, several experts and fans believe that the Warriors best part ways with Draymond Green or even Klay Thompson. Green’s outrageous behavior over the season put the Warriors in a massive hole, which is why they couldn’t get through to the playoffs. However, Green stated that he doesn’t intend on leaving the Warriors which also puts the idea of joining LeBron to bed.

“As I’ve said before, unless Bron coming to Golden State I don’t really see that happening. For me personally, if the Warriors will have me until I’m done and my shoestring is in a knot and toss them things about the telephone wire, that’s where I’ll be,” he said on the Point Game Podcast. However, with all that’s said and done, Green stands as one of the greatest Warriors players ever. Not only has he won four titles, but he’s been their main facilitator and defensive anchor.
