Conor McGregor posting something only to delete it later is nothing new. The former two-division Champion shared an old video on his Instagram story, which has seemingly confirmed fan theories about UFC 303. Many fans are of the opinion that McGregor suffered an injury during the training camp, forcing him out of his much-awaited return against Michael Chandler at UFC 303.
In the video, which McGregor has now deleted from his social media platform, the Notorious can be seen talking about injuries during training and how a fighter can avoid getting injured while preparing for a fight.
“I think the more resistance you train with, the less movement and the more injury. But the less resistance you train with, the more movement and the less injury.” McGregor can be quoted as saying.
Needless to say, amid rumors of an injury potentially canceling this fight, McGregor’s Instagram story has only made things more confusing for MMA fans who are waiting in bated breaths to hear an update on UFC 303.
As previously reported, UFC 303 is hanging in the balance after all promotional work for the event was removed from the UFC’s official YouTube channel and ESPN. The PPV is not available for purchase either, and UFC President Dana White has also decided to remain silent on the matter. The lack of official updates has only served to heighten the frustration and anxiety among MMA fans, who are desperate for clarity on the situation.
Is UFC 303 canceled?
Since there hasn’t been any official confirmation from the UFC, the general belief is that UFC 303 is still happening. Some fans have alluded McGregor’s recent story to playing mind games with his opponents, while others think it’s a trick to gain more interest and have people talking about McGregor‘s return.
Meanwhile, many are of the opinion that UFC has already found a replacement, and a fight between Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveira could be the main event of UFC 303.
On the other hand, Chandler has maintained in his recent appearances that UFC 303 is still happening. What’s the truth? Only time will tell. But the recent developments and McGregor’s deleted story are not a good indication.
