Amid all the odds, Cody Rhodes made his WWE return at WrestleMania 38 as the surprise opponent of Seth Rollins. His return instantly made him the top babyface of the company. Furthermore, he won the 2023 Royal Rumble and challenged The Tribal Chief for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championships.

However, his story didn’t have a happy ending as he failed to win against The Bloodline leader at the Grandest Stage of them All. Since RAW after WrestleMania, he has been feuding with the likes of Brock Lesnar. They squared off at the Backlash and now they’re looking forward to concluding their rivalry at the Night of Champions.

The American Nightmare left AEW in early 2022 and joined WWE after a couple of months. Talking about his income, Cody Rhodes’ current WWE salary is unknown. However, an intelligent guess of his WWE contract is estimated to be around $3 to $6 million. He’s also one of the top five earners in the company right now.

Before joining WWE, Cody Rhodes had a salary of $3 million in AEW. Only Jon Moxley was earning more than The American Nightmare in the company. He used to earn the same amount as Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega in 2021.

Why did Cody Rhodes leave AEW?

Cody Rhodes left Tony Khan‘s All Elite Wrestling in the early months of 2022. There were a couple of major reasons behind The American Nightmare leaving the Florida-based promotion.

As revealed by Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer, the major reason behind Rhodes leaving AEW was, obviously, money. Another reason that came forward was the former WWE Intercontinental Champion getting booed even after presenting himself as a face in all his feuds.

I feel this match between Cody Rhodes and @dustinrhodes doesn’t get talked about enough as one of AEW’s best matches in it’s history of the company 🔥🔥🔥 #AEW pic.twitter.com/v0VMgtu3mS

“I don’t think so. There’s a reason and both Tony and Cody basically made an agreement that they would never tell. They were just going to part as friends and all that. I mean, with Cody, look, when I asked him, he just said – there’s a reason,” said Meltzer.

Tony Khan and Cody Rhodes also had a disagreement between them that the two will never disclose. However, The American Nightmare has completed a year away from the promotion he helped Tony Khan build in 2019.
