WWE King & Queen of the Ring 2024 is now in the books, and it was an incredibly well-executed show. The PLE featured several outstanding matches, but arguably the best encounter on the event in Jeddah was the triple-threat bout between Sami Zayn, Chad Gable, and Bronson Reed for the Sami’s Intercontinental Championship.
The fan-favorite superstar was able to retain his title after pinning Bronson, as Chad missed another opportunity to win the prestigious title. But just hours after the defeat, the Alpha Academy star revealed the real reason why he turned heel despite all the love he received as a babyface in the promotion.
Gable did so while posting a clip from the King & Queen of the Ring Countdown in which former WWE Champion Big E talked about the possible reason why Chad Gable turned heel by attacking Zayn on a recent episode of RAW. Sharing the video through his X handle, the 38-year-old shared an interesting response.
In his reaction to what the New Day star stated, Gable wrote, “There’s smart, and then there’s @WWEBigE levels of intelligence. This man’s genius never fails to amaze me. He just gets it.” Looking at these comments from the former amateur wrestler, it seems Big E was right all along in predicting the reason behind Chad’s decision to turn to a heel character in the Triple H-led promotion.
What exactly did Big E say about Chad Gable’s heel turn?
After Chad Gable’s response to the former WWE Champion’s comments, people have been sharing interesting responses. But others have been wondering what exactly Big E said about Chad’s heel turn. It must be noted that he brought up the former amateur wrestler’s “latent trauma or PTSD” from being called Shorty G as one of the reasons why he turned heel despite fans’ support.
The New Day member said, “I think one of the things that we haven’t discussed is… I have a theory. The possible latent trauma or PTSD from being saddled as Shorty G. You put an Olympian in a tank top and some long shorts, can you blame the man for snapping? I don’t.” Through these comments, he made it clear that he’s not shocked by the heel turn of Chad, as WWE didn’t use his well as a babyface.
Chad Gable vs. Sami Zayn seems to be the direction for the heel star
While Big E’s statement about Chad’s heel turn has grabbed the attention of the WWE Universe, another thing that they’ve been talking about is the wrestler’s future. Even though he lost at the King & Queen of the Ring event in Saudi Arabia, his journey to winning the Intercontinental Title may still be alive because he wasn’t pinned.
As it was Bronson Reed who took the pin in Jeddah, Chad Gable vs. Sami Zayn seems to be the direction for the heel star. With all the shenanigans the recent triple-threat match had, there’s a possibility that the company decides to give them an opportunity to compete in a one-on-one bout in the near future. If that’s the case, it might take place at Clash at the Castle.

Looking at the kind of rivalry they’ve had and the continuous heat Gable has been generating, WWE could have him win the IC Title at the show in Scotland so that he receives even more heat from the audience. But it all depends on how the organization wants to carry out things, and it’ll be interesting to see what the future holds for these pro wrestling stars.
