Chad Gable has arguably been the most hated heel on RAW in WWE’s recent history, and it shows how good he has been. The former amateur wrestler has revolutionized his career through his heel character, and that’s why many believe that he is now finally going to reach the heights of success as a singles superstar in the Triple H-led promotion.
But, in the midst of all this, Chad‘s contract with WWE expired in early June, and there was a lot of discussion around whether he would renew his contract with the company or not. After a lot of anticipation, Gable has finally renewed his contract with the Stamford-based promotion. But, looking at his booking after the new deal, it seems that he has made a huge mistake by signing a brand new deal with the organization.
3. WWE is probably never going to give him a main event push
A major reason why Chad Gable should have joined a different promotion rather than renewing his WWE contract is that he’s not seen as a top guy in the company. The promotion has mostly used Chad in the mid-card division, and it has never seemed that they are going to give him a major push. Despite doing some great heel work, WWE is probably never going to give him a main event push, but Gable surely deserves better.
It seems likely that the 38-year-old superstar is going to continue working in the mid-card in WWE, but things could have been way better if he had signed with a promotion like AEW. It was reported that All Elite Wrestling and Tony Khan were heavily interested in signing Chad Gable, but the RAW star decided to continue his run with the Stamford-based promotion, which is probably turning out to be a blunder by him.
2. Giving Chad Gable another loss at the Clash at the Castle
WWE not giving Chad a main event push is probably something fans aren’t happy about, but he was still a favorite to win a mid-card title soon. The former amateur wrestler got a number of opportunities to do so, and even fought Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship during the recent PLE Scotland. Due to his brilliant work as a heel, everyone believed that he’d win, but that wasn’t what WWE did.
After a great match, Chad lost, and giving Chad Gable another loss at the Clash at the Castle event in Glasgow is probably a new hint that the creative team doesn’t really see Gable as a worthy performer to carry championship gold as a singles superstar. If that’s the case, it’s probably a huge setback to Gable’s chances of winning a championship in the Stamford-based promotion.
1. The rise of Otis makes the chances of Chad Gable’s push even thinner
Another thing that makes Chad’s decision to renew his contract a mistake is the booking of Otis. The Alpha Academy member is consistently being teased to be the breakout superstar of the faction, and his interaction with the leader of the stable have been noteworthy. After a lot of teases, Otis finally snapped on the 38-year-old star on this week’s RAW, and its most probably a teaser of things to come for Chad.

As the 32-year-old has been getting support from the live crowd in arenas, as well as the internet wrestling community, it seems like WWE is going to give fans Otis vs. Gable, and the fan-favorite star would probably win the feud. If that’s actually going to be the case, it’s safe to say that the rise of Otis has made the chances of Chad Gable’s push even thinner, and that’s why he probably made a mistake by renewing his WWE contract.
