SUMMARY
- Mark Jackson weighs in on the current state of the Golden State Warriors.
- Jackson believes that Klay Thompson still has a lot to offer any team that signs him on this offseason.
Former Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson recently went on Gilbert Arenas’ podcast and discussed the current state of the Warriors. As most NBA fans should be aware, the Warriors have won 4 championships in recent history and are arguably the most successful franchise in the modern NBA.
The team ended up being eliminated from postseason contention by the Sacramento Kings this season and a lot of questions about their future have been asked. Although Jackson has not coached the Warriors for a decade, he is one of the few who likely have insight into their struggles. With that being said, let us take a closer look and find out more.
Mark Jackson weighs in on Klay Thompson’s future with the Warriors
One of the biggest issues that the Warriors have to address before their offseason ends is their future with Klay Thompson. Although the Splash Brother has been instrumental to the success that the team has seen over the years, he has clearly underperformed and not lived up to expectations this season. He was unable to score a single point in the Warriors’ last and must-win game vs the Kings this year.
Despite the basketball community throwing shade on Klay Thompson, Jackson appeared to still hold the Golden State Warriors veteran to a high standard.
“I think they have tough decisions to make. I think it’s far from over as far as them competing for a championship the question will be will they? I don’t even have to decide with Klay but you’re also going to have to retool a little bit too. But they still have Steph Curry. So you’re still going to be in the mix…”
While the Warriors’ former coach makes a valid point, it was also made clear that Thompson is looking to secure a large contract. That would certainly make teams think twice before adding him to their roster. Since Jackson was the one who coached Klay Steph and Draymond when they came into the NBA, some believe that the Warriors’ recent struggles are a sign that the team should bring him back.
Rapper Cam’ron believes that the Golden State Warriors should bring back Mark Jackson
Since the Golden State Warriors have not won an NBA championship over the past few seasons and appearing to be unable to establish themselves as contenders, a relatively well-known rapper called Cam’ron recently started a petition to bring Mark Jackson back as the Warriors’ coach.

Considering that Jackson was removed from his position due to his inability to get along with other members of the organization, it is quite safe to say that there is almost no chance for the Warriors to bring him back. Perhaps things will change if GSW continues to fall short of contending for an NBA title or even making the playoffs.
