Ramaswamy was born to Indian immigrant parents on August 9, 1985, in Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S. According to reports, his father Ganpathy Ramaswamy worked as an engineer and patent attorney. Meanwhile, his mother, Geetha Ramaswamy worked as a geriatric psychiatrist.
Ramaswamy, on the other hand, attended Cincinnati’s St. Xavier High School and graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, in biology.
Vivek Ramswamy’s business ventures
In 2007, Ramaswamy co-founded Campus Venture Network. It was a private social networking website for university students aspiring to launch businesses. Two years later, the company was later sold to the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. Ramaswamy then worked at QVT Financial, managing the firm’s biotech portfolio from 2007 to 2014.
In 2014, Ramaswamy founded Roivant Sciences with nearly $100 million in start-up capital. Roivant focused on acquiring patents for drugs from larger pharmaceutical companies and bringing them to market through various subsidiaries, including Dermavant, Urovant, Sinovant, and Cytovant.
In January 2021, Ramaswamy became the executive chairman of Roivant after stepping down as CEO. Ramaswamy resigned from his position in February 2023 to concentrate on his presidential campaign. Despite stepping down, he remains the sixth-largest shareholder, holding a 7.17% stake.
In 2020, Ramaswamy co-founded a Medicare navigation platform called Chapter Medicare. In early 2022, Ramaswamy, along with Anson Frericks, co-founded Strive Asset Management, a Columbus-based asset management firm, engaging in activism.
Recently, in 2023, Forbes reported that Ramswamy’s worth had reached over $1 billion. He became one of the youngest American billionaires. Later, however, due to a market drop in value, his net worth dropped to around $950 million.
Ramaswamy has a friendship with Dana White and Jake Paul
Ramaswamy and YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul have shown support for each other in the past few months. Their friendship has blossomed as Paul campaigned for the politician in Iowa. They were seen playing tennis together.
Ramaswamy was invited by Paul to be ringside during The Problem Child’s fight against Andre August last August. Moreover, after Ramaswamy announced the suspension of his presidential campaign, Paul continued to show support for his friend.
