Tyson Fury, the WBC champion and one of the most celebrated heavyweight boxers of all time, is for sure a great entertainer in addition to being a superb boxer. His dressing sense has also been considered to be unique, as he has opted for some bold choices when it came to his appearance in media events before his fights. However, one particular appearance truly stands out—that’s the moment when he attended a press conference in full Batman attire.
This happened way back in 2015, a time when ‘The Gypsy King’ made quite an entrance at a press conference. This was in the days leading up to his iconic victory over Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko (64-5), as the world heavyweight champion arrived in style in a bright yellow Lamborghini to face his opponent. As he emerged from the luxurious supercar, the entire room was taken aback.
Standing at a towering 6 feet 9 inches, Tyson Fury strolled towards the podium, donning the classic Batman costume. Shortly after taking his seat, a person dressed as the Joker made his way over, and the two engaged in an impromptu wrestling match on the floor, leaving Klitschko in a state of shocked silence as he observed the unexpected spectacle.
Why did Tyson Fury attend a press conference dressed as Batman?
Tyson Fury’s tailor, Nav Salimian, has disclosed that his initial task for the WBC heavyweight champion didn’t unfold as planned. Salimian was given the assignment of hastily creating a suit for Fury in preparation for his 2015 press conference with Wladimir Klitschko.
The fight enthusiast was thrilled at the opportunity to collaborate with one of Britain’s most prominent boxing figures. However, he found himself somewhat daunted by the tight deadlines and the sheer stature of the individual he had to outfit. Nevertheless, he did manage to develop a top-class suit for ‘The Gypsy King’.
However, to his surprise, Fury decided to walk out in the Batman outfit. Salimian expressed that he was initially puzzled as to why his suit had not been utilized. It was only later that he comprehended that the ensemble he had designed for Fury was an integral part of the Batman-themed stunt. “What I wasn’t aware of is that Tyson was actually using my suit as a prop for his Bruce Wayne outfit,” Salimian said to talkSPORT.
2023 is the year we are in, and fans would admit that this was one of the craziest media appearances in combat sports to date.
